Business Practice Questionable

My complaint is about a Business Practice. I signed (created an account) up with Northwest and gave them my basic information and a Credit Card information. I then went to look for several items I was interested in and put them in my basket. I had not completed selecting everything I wanted to purchase when all of a sudden I got a "fraud alert notice" from my Credit Card company. I have a block on my Credit to prohibit an charges less than a dollar charge.

Apparently Northwest Mint charged my credit card .01 cents for no reason.

By the time I got Northwest Mints phone number and called them, I got a 2nd notice saying that they issued a credit for the .01 charge. I then spoke with the receptionist who explained that it was a normal procedure that they charge a person Credit Card to validate that it is a legitimate card. I disagreed with that practice, so she transferred me to sales who then transferred me to "Accounting".

I ended up speaking to their "legal council" who did not even know about the practice and only wanted to research it and get back to me. Needless to say...I told them to cancel my account and did not complete a transaction. I think I saved myself some nightmares.

Respect of employees

I actually walked into their store in Washington State. They immediately took me into an office and a very nice lady started to assist me. I had hoped to buy a lot of silver coins that day but the selection they had on hand was very limited. They said it was due to silver prices being so low. I did manage to buy a few ounces though. The biggest issue I had with my experience was when a man (who I can only assume was the boss) came in. He was very polite to me but incredibly rude to the woman who was assisting me. I don't know if he was trying to impress the customer or what but it made me sick. As far as the product I bought, I would definitely go back. As far as seeing an employee berated by her boss...I think I'll pass. It's amazing anyone is working there based on what I saw.

Believe the bad reviews

My bad. Sometimes you figure the bad reviews were written by the "few" who had a poor experience. I should have believed them. I ordered $500.00 of Washington quarters on 8/4/14. Yes I knew that they even say that sometimes they delay shipments if there is a "shortage". I took my chances and ordered. Within 30 days I got an email saying that the shipment would be delayed till 10/4/14 but they reserved the right to not ship till 11/24/14. Yes these possible delays are disclosed in the small print. Since I had not received confirmation of delivery by 11/23/14 I planned to exercise my right to cancel the transaction and get my money back. What a surprise... I got my confirmation of shipment on 11/24/14. So I am ticked off at all the delays but would live with the whole experience since the quarters were finally on the way. They arrived and guess what...$500 of DIMES. I called them, talked to "Kim" the manager and her response was that they were covered because it is all in the small print. I know the value is the same but I DO NOT BUY DIMES.
I believe they play the "float" with your money and delay as long as they can before being forced to make the delivery and even then it may not be what was ordered. I now purchase from Apmex. They only let you order when they have the product on hand and ship immediately. A class operation. Believe the reviews, the few "good" reviews are the exceptiion.

Same Complaint as Michael

This is clearly a scam operation. I purchased two months ago and was given a ship date of this week. Today I emailed and was given the same excuse Michael received - demand is up, etc. This is a lie. Silver prices are down significantly and there is no shortage. Other dealers are guaranteeing next-day delivery. I am going to file a complaint with the State Attorney General and any other relevant agency. This is nothing less than fraud.

AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE ITS EBOLA!

5/2/2014, I purchased by wire transfer 260 ounces of silver. The silver never arrived. So I began speaking with Kim, their designated liar. For the next five months Kim proceeded to tell me that silver availability world wide is down; they are waiting for another shipment and they are behind in production. After five months of the same song and dance I cancelled my order. You see, in the last five months I have made four other purchases of the same size from other mints without a problem! Kim told me that I would have my check in a matter of a few days, two weeks later she is still giving me the run around. Just spoke with her and she tells me it takes 10 days for a letter to go from Washington State to Texas. Such BS, these people need to be taken to court by a class and let them explain their criminal business practices to the class and the judge!
In my opinion, these people are Criminals !

When I bought my silver from them I kept getting delays(took forever) I belived them when they said they were behind.shame on me.just sold them some back I was told 2 days after they recived the silver my check would be in the mail.8 days after they recived the product still no check so I called they had not even mailed it yet.Same excuse as buying( were behind) all they do is take your money and product and hold on to it to use and make money off of.Do not trust this company there are to many reputable ones out there.Will absolutely never buy or sell to them again

Low Mark-Ups on Eagles

Bought some silver eagles in 2013 - they arrived as expected, in excellent condition. The markups over spot were pretty good, but I have since discovered that they also sell their own minted line of silver bullion, which is even better than what the US Mint offers.

When I first started buying silver, I would almost exclusively go with eagles or maple leafs because I simply did not look at the other options - namely rounds. After all, silver is silver, and that is what the spot price is based upon.

The folks here have always been great, and I know that they stand behind their product.

I have placed several orders with NWTM, have been generally satisfied except for shipping delays. Even that was not too bad, they would delay shipping for 1 period and ship it on the new schedule. This most recent order, though, I am on my 4th order shipment schedule. They say they'll buy back if they don't ship on time, but I don't really want to do that, I want my oder!
I even at one time wrote a generally favorable review, with the exception of the shipping thing. I don't know what their problem is, are they selling stuff they don't have? After this experience I will never buy from them again and probably will never sell to them either.

This was my third order. Placed two small orders to feel them out. Somewhat slow, but received the orders. Placed order for 9700+.on April 14th. Just received notice today that fed ex has picked up the order. After placing my third order and was getting the run around about shipping I started reviewing the company. Found out that the AG took them to court on Sept of 2008. N w mint had to pay a total fine of $58,763.49 to settle just what they are still doing, using your money and my money to make money before shipping what we have ordered.
Beware, read ALL the reviews before thinking about buying from this company.

Still waiting (and waiting)

On April 10, 2014, I ordered a 100-oz silver bar. It is now August 4th (almost 4 months) and I am told that it will be another 3 weeks before shipping will occur. Customer service has been good but I still don't have my shipment. One day it will arrive without any problems, but best to avoid NWT mint unless you fully expect to wait 4 months for it too arrive.

But after my order was paid for I got a bad feeling and did some more research into their business practices and got a little scared. My bullion was supposed to ship in 60 days or less but on the 60th day I received an email saying "because of higher than normal order volume" my shipment would be delayed another 30 days. This is standard practice for NW Mint I'm finding out. I just got my order on the very last promised day (90 days from order) and everything is exactly as I was promised. If you don't mind waiting a while to get your metals then the almost spot prices are a good deal.

Scammed again...10K of worries.

This is the Scam. From the loads of revolving orders...NWTM has another business with guaranteed return..like a payday loan or title loan co.,with a 25%-40% gain, guaranteed, & by revolving their deposits...with a 90-120 day delay....they can operate with millions of dollars of no-interest money....my money & yours.

I suspect this is a fairly recent greed scheme....Someone figured out how to cash in....but at the expense of their reputation. They do not care however...the cash is just too good.

I gave them 10K+...& the sickness in my stomach...now....isn't worth it. May the Attorney General visit these scammers....& come down hard on them...possibly forcing them to pay interest on all orders over 2 weeks.

I am only in my second delay...90 days out....& as the multitudes have said.....My fault...I jumped too quick.

I will get my silver Nauseated & frustrated.

I've been trying since the beginning of May to get a custom coin from these guys. I've been told REPEATEDLY that I would get an email the next day but never received it. I've emailed several times and gotten no response. When I call, I'm told to email the info again and then promises are made. Still nothing. I gave up and am trying another company. I have made 4 orders with nwt. The first two were through the online store for various items like the silver bullets and smaller bullion. At the time the small orders did not qualify for the bullion department.

The first of the two online store came in quick. I received a notice that it shipped early. This was around Jan 2014. The second order was delayed twice but I was only notified the first time. When they missed the second ship date I called and they apologized. That second order didn't ship for another 3 weeks. Each time I called the online store girls were very polite and helpful. Second online bullion order was made 4/18. Received an email notice that it is delayed and will not possibly ship till 7/21 to 7/25... Again 3 months after the order was placed and payed for.

Order delays

This company is ridiculous. I placed a very modest order. After the order was placed I was told it would be 21 business days before it shipped. Just before this period ended, I was told it would ship in another 31 days. So they have my money but I don't have what I purchased. Don't sell what you can't ship immediately or give me an agreed upon price an charge me once the order ships. I can even get a full refund. This is a scam.

Only Buy If You Can Not Find ANYPLACE ELSE!

BUYER BEWARE! I do a lot of on line buying and I spent over 38 years as a customer service technician that was trained to always make that customer feel important. This place is absolutely the pits! They have no concept of customer service which means they have not thought about taking care of the paying customers, whatsoever! BTW, just a cursory check on the web and you will find better pricing from other vendors that will ship asap as they really have the product in stock.

My fist order (of two) to this sorry group was placed on 5/17/14. I here nothing other than the confirmation of order (same day) and then I wait. After this order I make one more on 6/5/14. Mind you now, I have heard nothing on the 5/17 order! Finely!!!! I here something from this company. On 6/18 I get a notice from FedEx that the company has shopped to me. But, there is absolutely nothing to indicate what or which order! I email them twice and get zero answer. On 6/25 I get my first order so at least I know what was shipped and what was not. Folks, I was in the customer service business for my entire career and this junky group is the worst I have ever seen. Just look at all the negative comments from so many. WE ALL CAN NOT BE WRONG! The very few positive comments, well, it appears that is shill people that must be on the payroll.

BOTTOM LINE: IF YOU CAN FIND IT SOMEPLACE ELSE, (and you most likely can for even less) DO SO! YOU MOST LIKELY WILL SAVE SOME $$ AND HAVE YOUR SILVER IN HAND, IN DAYS INSTEAD OF MONTHS!

MY Mistake

My mistake was not finding these guys sooner. I have been buying silver for a number of years now, and these guys are simply the best in terms of quality and price. They always have some type of special going on, which is nice. They take awhile to ship, but other than that, this is the perfect place to buy gold and silver.

I Will Never Buy From These Folks Again!

I have made two orders in the past month from these folks. I got confirmation the orders were made right away and of course, my CC got charged right away. Time goes buy and I hear nothing on the first order then more time and I actually get am email from them saying the second order is "delayed" because of the amount of business they have going on. Then I get an email (from FedEx) telling me NWT has sent me a package. Of course, there is no reference whatsoever as to which order this is. But the email did have an email address for someone at NTW. I have twice emailed to find out exactly what is coming and what is not. I have not heard back a word! So, if you want to buy silver from someone that is lightning fast to charge, molasses slow to send, and has zero when it comes to communications and customer service, these are the people you want to deal with. On the other hand, if you have reasonable expectations on shipping and service, FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO BUY FROM! I will never, ever buy from this company again!

Learn from My Mistake

I ordered 500 Oz in January with a promise ship date no later than April 25. Only then did I read the reviews about this place and got really worried. I doubted whether I would ever get the silver or see my money again. Very stressful. Three months later they delayed the shipment 30 days. Thirty days went by and I heard nothing from the company. A few days later I called during lunch and was put on hold for over half an hour and finally had to hang up. I called again after work and explained I had already waited on the phone once that day and since it was my second time calling could I move to the front of the que? I thought the lady was rather rude and told me "NO, many people today are calling for the second time today" trying to get through. After a very long wait a nice lady answered and said my shipment was delayed and this time they could not give me a new date. I asked for a refund. She said they would send the check within two business days (pretty good). A week later I was still pretty worried and called again. She said the check had gone out yesterday. So four and a half months after placing my order thankfully I got my money back but they obviously sold something they did not possess nor could they get ahold of it. Learn from my stressful mistake. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY.

I bought 150 silver coins and after you submit your order, they tell you its going to take 2 to 3 months to get your order. after 3 months, they told me its going to be another month delay in an email.
I finally got my order after 4 months. Unbelievable !!!! I will never buy from them again.
Save yourself a headache and don't buy from NWT Mint.
I started using goldsilver.com and I get my order within 2 weeks after my check clears.

In one instance, I made a little back when the price of silver went up above what I paid, but that was awhile back. Their customer service is pretty helpful and professional if you reach out to them and let them know your situation.

Stay Away....You Can Do Better Elsewhere

Three months passed since they cash my check. So I call four times and keep getting put on hold. Am told no one is available to speak with me concerning my order. One person did call me back later in the day and told me my order "would be shipped after the weekend".

I believe NW Terr Mint uses customer funds to take advantage of market fluctuations for their benefit over a three to four month period. Look at their "agreement" as the terms are stacked. The BEST a customer can hope for is a full refund. My jury is still "out" as also is my money. This Company smells to high heaven.

If you want accompany to hold your money interest free for over 4 months. Lie about ship dates then avoid you this is the company for you. I will never deal with these scam artist again. Twice they promised delivery. The dates came and went. Then when you try and ask they put you on hold for hours, don't respond to your email and give an attitude when you get through. Now, hopefully, I'm getting my money back. Although I wouldn't bet on a speedy return. I'll probably have to contact my attorney to straighten this disaster out.

I think most of the comments on here are far too harsh. I have ordered from N.W.T.M. several times and find their products and packaging/presentation to be excellent when it finally arrives. I do agree that the shipping time is too long. I think they do themselves a discredit by this but it is the only complaint that there is. Their staff and telephone people are excellent. They are not at all difficult to deal with. I would certainly order from them again. Just be patient.

Terrible service

I've ordered twice from this company and both times it took 4 months to receive the merchandise. There were always delays and then the usual offer of refunding my money. The quality of the silver is generally pretty good, but their shipping time and delays make it a horrible experience. Other mints provide much better service and the quality of the silver is the same.

These folks took my order and explained their procedure as well as their shipment time of 30-45 days. At the end of that time they notified me that the shipment had been delayed by about two weeks and at the end of the time they estimated the order was shipped. I received the order and the silver boulion was absolutely beautiful. I have ordered from other dealers who were faster but then who cares? I received what I ordered at the time I was promised and the silver was a wonderful addition to my other metals and coins.
I give them a Five star rating for communication and for fulfilling their promises as well as the qiality of their product.
I see so many negative reviews for Northwest Territorial Mint and I think they are just upset that they don't have their toys in their hands in just a couple of days.
Get over it and muster up sime parience. NWTM did not become such a large company because they were dishonest or did not perform as promised.

Beautiful coins, horrible service

Northwest Territorial Mint produces the highest quality coins and medals available. The problem is their service is atrocious. They tell you delivery in eight to ten weeks. Absolutely Horrible Service- DO NOT BUY YOU WILL NEVER RECEIVE

For anyone that is writing 5 star reviews, it is very very clear that you are either a member of the NWTM team, or you are too naive to see that you were clearly taken. I placed my order well over 2 months ago, and they said it would be delivered in a few weeks. I think received an email saying there could be a delay in shipment until March 17, 2014. Second email delayed until April 4th. I was very hesitant to place this order in the first place because it said you had to be home, show your license, and sign for the package. Since my credit card is linked to my CHILDHOOD home address (and I've moved out on my own since then), I would not be able to sign for the package. It turns out I was going to contact USPS or UPS, whoever they decided to send it through and tell them I would come pick up the package after work, to save them the trouble of ringing my doorbell and me obviously not being there. In any event, I went to check the status of my shipment and it says DELIVERED. Delivered where? I did not sign for any package, nor did anyone in my house. It seems they left the package of silver on my doorstep and after months of waiting for it- IT IS NOW GONE. Not only have I been in contact with the 'manager' of the web for the past 6 weeks (who takes more than a few weeks to get back to you, unless you really continue calling and nudging them) but now I have nothing to show for it. Just a hefty credit card bill.

I own a business in New York, buying and selling gold and silver bullion, and we would never treat our customers like this. It is truly disgusting the lack of customer service that NWTM has. Not to mention, for all those people who are purchasing gold or silver from them, they are hedging off of YOUR money. If silver goes up, they send you an email telling you to cancel the order. For anyone that is writing 5 star reviews, it is very very clear that you are either a member of the NWTM team, or you are too naive to see that you were clearly taken. I placed my order well over 2 months ago, and they said it would be delivered in a few weeks. I think received an email saying there could be a delay in shipment until March 17, 2014. Second email delayed until April 4th. I was very hesitant to place this order in the first place because it said you had to be home, show your license, and sign for the package. Since my credit card is linked to my CHILDHOOD home address (and I've moved out on my own since then), I would not be able to sign for the package. It turns out I was going to contact USPS or UPS, whoever they decided to send it through and tell them I would come pick up the package after work, to save them the trouble of ringing my doorbell and me obviously not being there. In any event, I went to check the status of my shipment and it says DELIVERED. Delivered where? I did not sign for any package, nor did anyone in my house. It seems they left the package of silver on my doorstep and after months of waiting for it- IT IS NOW GONE. Not only have I been in contact with the 'manager' of the web for the past 6 weeks (who takes more than a few weeks to get back to you, unless you really continue calling and nudging them) but now I have nothing to show for it. Just a hefty credit card bill.

I own a business in New York, buying and selling gold and silver bullion, and we would never treat our customers like this. It is truly disgusting the lack of customer service that NWTM has. Not to mention, for all those people who are purchasing gold or silver from them, they are hedging off of YOUR money. If silver goes up, they send you an email telling you to cancel the order. Complete crooks and a truly disgraceful company to deal with. I am now very impatiently waiting to see what they are going to do with the order and hope they will do right by their CUSTOMER.

I'll Buy From This Dealer Again

Overall my experience with them went as expected. I decided to go with them for a variety of reasons, they are one of the largest PM dealers around, their premiums above spot are pretty good, and their products are well crafted.

I know that there are a lot of dealers to choose from out there, but you can't go wrong with buying from one of the largest dealers around for all of the reasons mentioned above.

Customer service is helpful when placing my order, and it always arrives in great condition. Since I'm in the area, I'll stop by their place occasionally, and have always been treated well.

Do Not Buy From Them

In my first foray into buying metals, North West Mint was one of the vendors I tried. Horrible! Significantly higher priced than others, delay of nearly a month, and, when I cancelled, they insisted this was a bullion transaction that they would only buy back at spot price. Hence, the made money on the sale, they made more money on the cancellation, and two weeks later, I still do not have any money back. Customer service representatives are rude, short-tempered and devious, (NB my opinion.)

I have learned my lesson, I will never do business with these folks again.

This is the same way tulving started before they went bankrupt

All you need to do is research the end months of tulving before they shafted people out of 50 million, and you will see the same pattern of delays and excuses. When u order from this joke of a company you don't find out until after you pay that you won't get your goods for 4 to 6 months if your lucky. Then u will get more excuses, sounds like they on their way to the same path as tulving

DONT TRUST NWTM READ THIS REVIEW VERY BAD

I have purchased from Bullion Direct and had no issues. NWTM take over 4 months to deliver. The original date was in mid April, THEY JUST SENT A NOTICE THAT THEY CANNOT DELIVER THE PRODUCT..THIS IS WELL AFTER 4 MONTHS!!! ON TOP OF THIS THEY MAY SEND A REFUND…HELL THEY HAD MY MONEY FOR OVER 4 MONTHS!!!! I COULD HAVE DONE BETTER TO BUY OFF EBAY!! They are arrogant and act like they are doing you a favor. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE FROM THEM AGAIN. I understand what they do, they invest YOUR MONEY and have plenty of time to recover from any flux in the market. My order is small and I should have purchased from B.D. Buying an investment in solid metal,which is what they offer, you want that in your hands ASAP. Information on Website is incorrect

There is also blatantly incorrect information on the web site. Gifts of precious metals, etc... do NOT step up to the fair market value at the time they are gifted....they recipient gets whatever the donor's basis is.

Excellent Customer Service

I have purchased silver bullion from Northwest Territorial Mint for several years with no problems whatsoever. Recently a purchase seemed overdue. I checked the website and the purchase status was 'pending.' The next morning as soon as the office opened I called and talked to a woman. I explained my problem. She apologized for the inconvenience, said she would pass the information to her manager and that someone would get back to me. Later that day I received an email stating that a shipment from Northwest Territorial Mint was on its way. The next morning I received a call from customer service. She too, apologized for the inconvenience. My order had fallen into a crack in the delivery system (my words not hers.) She said the order had been shipped and thanked me for my business. Two hours later my bullion order was delivered to my door.
Problem acknowledged, problem resolved in 24 hours with no questions asked. As far as I am concerned, that is excellent customer service! Northwest Territorial Mint will continue to be my only source of silver bullion.

Contact Washington Attorney General. Order placed 12/03/13, haven't received it yet. Invoice says 8-10 weeks to ship, now at 12 weeks and waiting. Wish I'd checked feedback before ordering. They may be within the law but no being very ethical. Again, let attorney general's office know if you are upset.

Yes, shipping is slow. But think...you are getting an investment. You paid an agreed upon price and the value will go up or down from that time regardless to it being in your possession. What are you worried about? Not being able to play with it like a toy? Chances are you will put it in a vault or bury it In the back yard so what is the real problem? At least it is safe from theft while in route and your next door neighbor who you have been bragging to about all your gold and silver will not be tempted to borrow it.
I rate these complaints about delivery...somewhere between whining and false.
