GREAT EXPERIENCE
Overall great experience with Gainesville Coins. Fast shipping, very friendly customer service and price is excellent. I highly recommend these guys for all your bullion purchases.
Customer's Experience
Disaster
I have ordered from several of the dealers represented on this site. My experience with these guys was by far the worst. I'm not a high maintenance customer, I do A LOT of shopping for A LOT of different things on-line so I know what to expect in most cases. However, if you are going to spend your hard earned money on bullion....pick someone else to buy from. I could go on and on about the time I've wasted and headaches...but I wont. Just do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.
Customer's Experience
Not a great place to buy from
Slow ship times and bad customer service. Price is pretty good. But I value other things as well.

I've used Gainesville Coins on at least five different occasions to buy coins. The only problem I've ever had was a slight delay in receiving an email. I have always received my the items I purchased in a VERY timely manner.
Customer's Experience
I want to compliment Gainesville Coins on their very professional staff. I purchased some 1 oz Gold American Eagles for myself as well as a 1/10 oz Gold Eagle that I was giving to my grandson for his Birthday. As I was going through my package I took out the packing material (or what I thought was packing material). The 1 oz Gold Eagles were awesome! My only issue was that I couldn’t find the 1/10 oz coin. I called Gainesville Coins and spoke to one of their reps. At this point I was in a bit of a bit upset but the rep remained calm the entire time and walked me through checking the box again. He suggested I look at what I thought was just packing material which I threw in the trash and sure enough there was a carboard envelope that contained my 1/10 oz eagle! I felt really dumb and what made it worse was that I completely missed the yellow sticker on the envelope that said coins inside. My eyes are not what they used to be! So overall I just want to say a big thank you to Gainesville Coins. A job well done!
I want to compliment the guys at Gainesville Coins. I rolled over my traditional IRA into a precious metals IRA and they did a great job. Very helpful throughout the entire processes and their bullion pricing is excellent. A job well done!
Bought some Silver Eagles and 1 oz Silver Dragon rounds from Gainesville Coins. Paid for order on a Monday and received the order 4 days later. Great service and pricing. I will be using Gainesville again.
Hi
Previously wrote that there was no communication from Gainesville coins afer i sent the wire.
Later i learnt the following things.
It seems their computer system automatically supposed to send an email confirmation did not send the email.
I was very concerned that they are not sending me the mail as money received and was little bit panic as the amount is > 50,000 dollars.
After 3rd day repetatively calling and explaining one of the person on the phone i am calling and not getting much luck
two of the employees infact they sent me the mail as the issue was escalated.
To my surprise on the same day they sent me a note saying my package mailed via USPS. i was very thrilled with their response.
Later after 4 days i got my packet, they have done the nested packing and excellent way and package was received very good shape.
TO be honest though i was little bit panic in the beginning, after the package was received i felt very happy that i used gainessville.
I really recommend them 5 stars
Thank you Gainesville Coins.
Agree with Greg. Been a customer of Gainesville Coins for the past 2 years (used to buy locally before). You are never going to make everyone happy but Gainesville does a great job. Pricing is always good and their traders are very helpful. Keep up the good work!
I ordered items from them and sent wire via Bank of America. After 4 days also they never confirmed as it is received. so i called them 2 times at 9.30 AM and 4 PM. At 4 PM. Person on the phone said sorry that i did not receive the confirmation mail, generally they sent it in the evening after all the phone calls are finished, so i waited until next day and called again.
This time it is a new person called Nadia she said it may take couple of more days, but your wire is received 5 days back. Do not worry, but i can't guarentee you when we will send the email to you about confirming wire is received.
This is not the service we expect after sending wire for 50k and they do not even care for sending an email.
I have made 14 purchases with this company without any problems. They are pretty slow in shipping but so what? I don't plan on selling them as soon as I receive my order, my purpose is long term. There is always going to be people that will be unhappy about any kind of service
Great Pricing, good selection and fast shipping. Nothing more needs to be said. Great bullion dealer
I have been buying from Gainesville Coins for over a year now and have had nothing but great service. They ship fast and pricing is always the best.
The BEST Coin Dealer! These guys are the absolute best. Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there who write false reviews. I have done the research and Gainesville Coins has never filed for bankuptcy nor merged with another company as user Rob writes. Gainesville Coins is the most honest dealer you will find with the best pricing!
The entire experience has been awful. DO NOT order from Gainesville.
I was told my order was to ship last month. Christmas is 5 days away and I still haven't received my order which was for gifts!
This is the first and last time I will order from Gainesville. There are much better companies to order from and I won't make this mistake again.
I had nothing but bad dealings with this company and it was only after contacting the BBB that they responded to keep thier rating with the BBB. However if you go to the BBB website and check this company out you will see they had over (25) complaints in a short period of time. I also checked Google on the company National Gold Exchange and they did file bankruptcy and merged with Gainesville Coins to hide who they truely are. In my opinion a company you really wanted to BEWARE of in my opinion.
This company use to operate under the name National Gold Exchange that filed for bankruptcy. If you google that name you will read all about it. I also want to note that this company is run by boys not professionals. The boys who seem to be still wet behind the ears will give your more stories than a library as to when to expect your product. My experience with a company Hunt Brothers proved to be much more cheaper and very reliable. SO BEWARE CONSUMERS shop around. Don't let companies who file bankruptcy then hide under another name fool you!!
Refused to allow me to set up an account because I am in the military. Can't comment on them otherwise. Too bad as I'll be out soon enough...I'll be shopping elsewhere.
Have bought from Gainesville coins 9-10 times. their coins are usually in good mint condition, shipping is a little slow, and shipping cost keeps INCREASING, which is the major downside order from this company. Just made an order of
This is a follow up to a review I posted on 12/02/11.
I received the coins I ordered and everything is fine. I also did not realize that they disclosed on the order form that they were going to ship my order on 12/2 which they did and it arrived a few days after.
I thought it was only fair that I mention this.
Way too slow to ship. 10 days after payment was wired and received I still have to shipment notice, been exchanging emails with this guy Brett who likes to argue but still no shipment.
I will not recommend this company, many others out there are happy to get my business and know how to treat a customer.
Won't repeat my mistake.
Purchased several times. No problems with any purchase, silver or gold. I use wire transfers which go smoothly and save $$. I find their shipping times to vary from 1 to 4 weeks. If you are in a hurry, buy elsewhere but always seem very reasonable when I have talked to them. I always get my merchandise. No problems as far as I am concerned.
One excuse after another for non-delivery. I would NEVER recommend these un professional people to anyone.Iwas outright lied to repeatedly, and I dont appreciate lies..My order ($22,400) still lies in limbo somewhere.DONT EVEN CONSIDER THIS COMPANY..YOU WILL REGRET IT..
Transaction using chrome as browser made local pick-up option difficult but other than that I've found telephone and personal interactions very pleasant. The delivery time was less than quoted for their Tampa showroom delivery. (local for me) The prices are the lowest I've found. Five stars as far as I'm concerned. I'll let you know if things change in future transactions
Disgraceful in terms of the amount of time it takes for delivery. Always an excuse. Never any ownership of the problem. Never a single thing they can do. My last order took 5 weeks. Before placing my current order I called to make sure I wouldn't have the same problem....'we apologize for what happened last time. But it's much slower now. 3 to 5 days tops.' Well that was 2 weeks ago. I ORDERED SILVER EAGLES!!! Nowhere in sight. Silver eagles. We're not talking about a rare coin here. I get the impression this is a guy in his living room just placing orders with real dealers as they come in. They clearly have zero inventory. IT'S a joke. Use AMPEX.
I've ordered from Gainesville several times.
Decent selection and prices. Good quality. Never had any problems with shipping. My only complaint is their shipping costs seem high, especially if you're just ordering one coin. I definitely plan to place more orders with them.
Forgot to mention another reason I like Gainesville. There's no minimum order like a lot of online dealers, so I don't have to buy 20 or more coins at a time.
They are the cheapest to buy from gainesville coin. Apmex too high but i thought the wait wouldn't be as long as gainesville but they both deliver around the same time. People need to realize its a high demand for the metal market right now. Stfu and be patient!!!!!!
~~Tho the prices are good, the delivery is SLOOOOW - we ordered during the highth of the 'bubble' $1900.00 prices... I expect their business to be good, but GOOOOOD GRIEF the delivery was slow.
I phoned 3 times -- got the old tired line: 'We're extremely busy....'
The prices are good, tho.
Gainsville is a dishonest company i asked why the perth mint 1 oz silver year of the dragon coins did not come in the original mint rolls and they lied and said they dont come in mint rolls . Everyone else sells them in mint rolls of 20 and they said if they were selling them in the rolls they were packaging them in those themselves. Why do they have to lie to me , they have lied before to me as well do they think I am just stupid?? I wont deal with them again.
Do yourself a favor listen to the negative reviews here and save yourself the time and frustration and make your purchases somewhere else. I spent over an hour on the website and on the phone trying to make a purchase but couldn't get anywhere. And don't expect their customer service to be of any help, they only have one line in their book, it's not our fault it's everyone else.
This company is so unprofessional in my opinion that they should not be operating. The company is owned by young kids who are still wet behind their ears. They are very rude and arrogant people and there are much better companies out there to deal with. I personally will never deal with this company again they are in my opinion a very shaky organization.
I dealt with this company as a dealer and let me tell you in my opinion they are a very strange company to deal with. I am certain they operated under a different company name the National Gold Exchange Inc (Google the name) they filed for bankruptcy and then mingled their inventory with Gainesville Coins to make it difficult for their creditor to do an inventory. My personal expereince with them proved to me that they are FAR from professionals and very suspect in the way they do business.
This company is was operating under another name out of Tampa teh national Gold Exchange or something like that and they filed bankruptcy and now operate under Gainesville Coins.
Placed the order on their website and made the wire transfer on Thrusday. Got a confirmation on Thursday evening. Received my coins in the Monday mail.
Good communication and fast service.
Gainsvillecoins is one of the best in the market. However, their delivery process can be a little complicated--meaning they are too slow. Apart from that, it is a fine company.
I have purchased all of my silver and gold coins from them. No problem thus far.
Ordered silver mapleleafs and received them promptly. Also ordered canadian gold coins. Different story here. Estimated ship date was 2 days ago. Called to inquire and they will not ship for another 4 or 5 business days. Reason: excessive business activity and backed up orders.
All negative reviews you review here are 100% true. Absolutely the worst company out there. 1 month later I have not received my order. They said there was a problem during shipping and that if I want my order I have to pay for more shipping!!!! Can you believe them? So now I have no choice but to give them more money or sell my gold back to them at whatever price they decide. Sounds like scam operation to me. they will never get another dime for me. I will be contacting BBB and state attorney's office.
I ordered from Gainsville because they had the best prices online and anywhere I could buy locally. I wasn't in any hurry, and I expected the deliverary to be late after reading the reviews on this site. However, I was pleasantly surprised on every level of the purchase. I know the market is exploding right now, and I wanted a good deal. I recieved timely emails every step of the way and recieved everything without a hitch. If there prices over spot stay low, I will probably be buying from them again. I am a smaller investor, but I didn't feel treated as such. Thanks for the service Gainsville!
Mark
DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE. THEY LIE, LIE, LIE. ALWAYS AN EXCUSE AS TO WHY YOUR ORDER ISN'T SENT OUT. I AM DEALING WITH GOLD BARS, SINCE THIS WILD FLUCTUATION IN GOLD PRICES IS HAPPENING,THEY ARE HOLDING MY GOLD (PROBABLY SELLING IT AT A HIGHER PRICE).
Gainsvillecoins said that I would receive my order on May 16, but when I call, they said that the order(21 sets of 1 OZ silver coins)would be delivered on May 27. I don't think I will order from them again.
Order the first time and the product came in the time indicated, so i thought ok this company runs their business ok seems reputable, so I order again this time for a bigger purchase still waiting for order, the time indicated purchase will arrive has passed, they have my cash in their pockets, my acct says process but no one can give me an answer when my product will be shipped. Will not use them again
Disappointing experience!! Please do not order from them if you don't want to take the risk of something happening during the shipping process.
I have placed 2 orders both around 10K, the first order arrived safely, the 2nd order, someone had opened the box to steal a roll (worth around $800) and no help from Gainesville AT ALL.
Not only did it take me persistently calling them for a week to speak to someone, but I'm pretty much told I'm out of luck since I signed for the package. Keep in mind that the hole was not very visible to begin with, packaging was poor and UPS will NOT let you go through the content before you sign for it so there was NO WAY we could've known something was missing.
BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK. DON'T LET THEIR INSURANCE ASSURE YOU OF ANYTHING. OH, YAH AND THEY SHIP VIA UPS, CURRENCY IS NOT COVERED UNDER UPS... so you are out of luck if something does happen since neither Gainesville coin or UPS will take responsibility for it.
I'll update if I hear anything else. Short of legal action, I don't think the company will do anything to offer help at all. This is very disheartening. Poor packaging with UPS, of course something is bound to happen when you make it so easy for a hand to sneak in and take something and if you have access to packaging tape, you won't know until you open the package.
We purchased multiple coins from Gainesville Coins and had a very pleasant transaction. The customer service reps were professional and easy to contact. The wire transfer was completed the same day and was very simple to do.
The only downside was it took about a month for our coins to be shipped out, but they were delivered via UPS and required a signature. Once they were shipped out, they were delivered within three business days.
I would do business with this company again.
Heather P.
Smooth transaction. No problems. I would buy from gainsvillecoins.com again and again. No problems. Shipped in approx 3-4 bus. days.
I frequently purchased metals and have used Tulving and Apmex in the past. Decided to try Gainesville since Apmex seems to be getting greedy with premiums as of late. Bottom line is the few dollars you save with Gainesville is definitely not worth the hassle and higher priced inferior shipping.
Gainesville requires a bank wire which automatically adds approximately $20 to your order. While this is no big deal, it does imply that your order will be shipped immediate; that has not been my experience with shipping times ranging from 1-2 weeks after confirmed bank wire. Apmex ships next day upon receipt of bank wire.
Gainesville also charges more for shipping, yet, uses the low-cost, bureaucratic U.S. Postal service to ship their orders; evidently to skim profits off shipping because the USPS does not charge as much as UPS. While this practice is most certainly dishonest, it is means you cannot track your order because with the exception of Priority and Express mail, tracking is not available, and Gainesville evidently is not willing to pay the few extra bucks (though you are charge) to have tracking on the package. Average delivery times for a package range from 8-14 business days from Florida to major metro North Carolina.
Bottom line is coins are coins provided you can trust the vendor you are purchasing from. I question whether you can trust Gainesville since their business practices leave a lot to be desired. I would avoid Gainesville even if their prices are a few dollars less. Between higher priced shipping for inferior service and terrible response, it simply is not worth the frustration and worry.
no problems at all... if your looking to buy silver or gold bars this is who you want to do buisness with.
Pros:
-> Low price compared to many online retailers like apmex, kitco, provident etc..
-> Very reasonable credit card charge.
-> Reliable & Good cust service.
Cons:
-> Do not accept check/money order etc ... Bank wire minimum order is $2000.00 . so it if u want to order less than $2000 and do not want to pay 2.75% credit card charge, u can't buy.
-> Shipping charge is little a bit higher.
Ordered a 1oz gold eagle; process went smoothly, received 3 automated emails...Supposedly coin was in stock, 4 days after they received the funds, the coin has not shipped. They say they have been too busy, I told him I would not make them busy in the future. Hope they eventually find time to stick it in the mail.
Bought some 1oz silver bars from Gainsville coins, had no problems ordering. Delivery time was quick which was surprising for December Christmas chaos. Prices were cheaper for me than APMEX our local dealer. Shipping was a bit higher than needed to be so buy in bulk to make it worth while. I will probably use Gainsville again.
Tried unsuccessfully to place an order through their website and each time it bombed out. When I attempted to email them through their 'contact us' it just scrubbed my name and stated that I should fill in my name. Extremely frustrating!
There was also no way to find out the shipping cost outside of America – and as I could not place an order I am still unaware of the charge.
