Provident Metals

My husband and I started investing about a year ago, and we were very new to the whole thing. We had dabbled with a few other sites, but found Provident to have the best customer service. They were always very patient with my dumb questions, and tried to inform me as best they could. Of the dozen or so times that I have ordered, we have had one small issue that was quickly resolved. My orders have always shipped in the time frames they have outlined, and they have the better pricing compared to Apmex and most of the others on this list. The guy I usually talk to is Jeremy, and sometimes Justin, both very helpful young men. Love them!

I have ordered from the Big 3(gainesville, apmex, provident), and Provident has recently become my favorite. Gainesville will be out of business in a few years, and apmex will always charge too much. My latest order of ASEs from provident was at my door 5 days after ordering. Everything perfectly packaged, and in pristine condition.

Beware of their user agreement. Provident will confiscate your money by applying capricious and broad Administrative Fees then cancel your order and refuse to refund or ship anything. Some would call this theft and mail fraud. From other reviews here and with the Dallas BBB, this seems to be their business model.

I chose them based on reviews but have had a lot of issues. I made 8 orders and had a problem with with very poor quality coins or damaged cases on items like coin proof sets. After requesting replacements this last time they refused to replace a 1962 mint set that is severely tarnished and should have never been sold at a full price of a good quality set and they told me they will no longer replace any damaged items I receive from them. Obviously I told them how disappointed I was with them considering they are the ones who choose the products and package them for shipping. In addition they do not use any packing material to protect the products during shipping.

A good retailer who had sent broken and poor quality items to a customer so often should apologize for these issues and make assurances that it is not normal instead of telling that customer they will no longer fulfill the return policy that is advertised on their site.

Do not buy from these guys.

Provident Metals is by far my favorite source for buying the coins and bullion I'm looking for. Their website is really informative and convenient to navigate and I can count on finding what I need--at a fair price. Working with their sales reps has always been a pleasure; they are really helpful and they know what they're doing. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Although I have been a good customer of provident, I no longer am. First of all, they take 3-5 days to ship a package AFTER the check has been in there posession for 6 business days. There customer service reps are very rude and say that they price match but in reality they don't. Buy from Gainesville coin or Goldmart.com... .they are both much better.

Usually the shipping is pretty fast, except for this time. The products and shipping prices are incredible. The reason they ruined my experience was because of a rep named Shana. (or something similar.) She called at home to harass me about facebook posts. I don't need that. I'm the customer. If I did that at my job, I wouldn't have my job. Instead of explaining how they are working to better the shipping times, she pretty much told me to just deal with it. Most others seem to be very helpful and never had a problem before. Hopefully you don't get her when you call, or that she doesn't call to bother you at home. Don't let one person ruin the company as a whole. I may buy from them again. If this had been my first experience I definitely wouldn't, however.

I have found Provident to be an excellent company to work with if you collect precious metal coins and/or bullion. They have an excellent web site where you can set up a "wish list" to keep track of items you are interested in. You can watch the price, set up comments to yourself, etc. They have excellent communication and exposure on both Facebook and Twitter. They offer cash prices that are better and have several options of "off-quality" items at a price reducation if you don't require pristine/graded items. Check them out/compare, bet you'll like them.

I have placed four orders with this company for bullion and junk 90. They are a great value! They have very competitive premiums. They ship well, discretely, and also at reasonable rates (these low shipping costs coupled with low premiums makes your price over spot lower than anywhere else for most items I've purchased.) If you're after rare numismatics, they might not be the best bet. If you're trying to invest in metals without blowing a lot on premiums and shipping, they can't be beat! (BTW the 3 on shipping isn't bad - I think I've averaged around seven days from order to shipment. Your price is locked at time of order, so it's really not all that important anyhow. I just couldn't give them a five with that turn-around time. They're still going to be main metal supplier.)

I have been buying bullion online for almost 10 years and have had experiences with just about every dealer on the web. Many of the dealers you see on here are they type to over promise and under deliver. I'm amazed that some of these guys still have customers! I will never "roll the dice" with another dealer again. In my expert bullion shopping opinion, Provident Metals is head and shoulders above these other sites. I have never been disappointed regardless of the size of my order. The one time I had a customer service issue, it was handled in a courteous and timely manner by someone who knew what they were doing, which I cannot say for the others I've dealt with.

I have ordered at least ten times from Provident Metals and have never had a problem. I almost always pay by personal check so the shipping time is longer but that is CLEARLY explained on their website. The customer service rep I spoke to once when I had a problem was polite and professional and fixed my problem. I'm very happy with their service and will continue to use them.

When buying from Provident, expect your order to take a week (or more) to process, if your order says "still processing" and is shipped, that indicates that they are dishonest and committing mail fraud. The products, if not noted as NEW are all scratched up and totally unacceptable, they will harass you if you want to do a return, and the customer service has an attitude like the customer is lucky to be graced to buy from them. They just pretty much feel that they get enough business that they don't need you as a customer

I have ordered precious metals only a few times. All but once with Provident Precious Metals & what a huge difference. I was so shocked at how bad the customer service was from this other company who I shall not name. There solution to a minor mistake (on their end) was to issue me an ultimatum with complete disregard for my schedule. Needless to say I avoided their solution, canceled my order, & returned to where my new found joy of purchasing metals. Provident Precious Metals has delivered nothing but top quality product & top-notch service. I am looking forward to a long business relationship.

I have purchased from Provident about 9 or 10 times. I've never had a problem. They're fast, informative, you can truly lock in your price 24/7/365 and their service is impeccable. Yes, if you pay by check your order will be processing a little longer. When you pay by check you should expect that. Also, sometimes your order has already been shipped when your order status says, "still processing." I believe that's so people can't alter the order and/or cancel with a credit card company and receive the items unpaid for. They have the cheapest prices on the web. Do yourself a favor and order from Provident!

I was a bit hesitant to buy from here because of the many negative reviews online, but I gave it a try, and I have to say, they're great! I'm not sure what's up with the people who leave so many negative reviews all over the internet, as from what I've experienced from them, they're top notch. The (very cheap) shipping took less than a week from when I ordered. The way they run their Facebook page is pretty neat as well! Always somebody there to answer a question and help if needed.

Provident is a good company, and I would recommend them as reliable, but anyone who says they have the best prices is misinformed. Just check out www.GoldShark.com. Their prices aren't the best for any product.

What a great company, they made my first time buying precious metals so easy!!! I heard about this company from a friend, and did some of my own research only to find they have the best prices bar none!! Customer service was great when I called with a few questions regarding my first purchase, and shipping was fast and discreet. I cannot see going through any other company to purchase my precious metals, Provident is a great company and I will spread the word to my friends and family!

I have made numerous purchases from companies reviewed on this site and provident metals is by far the WORST. They had every excuse in the book why my order didn't ship on time. I will never purchase from them again and I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere when making a bullion purchase.

Everyone mentions the long time from ordering to receiving, but I understand the check clearing process timeline. As long as my price paid is fixed, what matter is it to wait for shipping? The packaging was excellent, every thing I ordered, arrived without incident. I'm VERY happy, and will definitely order from them again.

Nothing bad to say. Give em a shot if you're in the market for precious metals. My experience was without incident. Very fast, very professional, and everything I ordered was packaged safely and discretely. The prices are strong and the website is just better then any of the ones I've used in the past. As I said....top notch.

Never had any problems with any order. The website is great and easy to navigate. Shipping could be a little faster, but as long as my price is locked it really doesn't matter. Thanks for an awesome service.

Placed four orders and here is the latest breakdown: 1st order on 12/30/11 and received on 01/20/12. 2nd order on 12/30/11 and delivered on 01/20/12. 3rd order on 01/01/12 and delivered on 01/20/12. First three orders were by check. 4th order on 01/13/12 and delivered on 01/21/12. The last order was by credit card. Everything was packaged great, waiting for the delivery was tough but not unexpected. Prices are very reasonable along with the shipping. All the deliveries were to Maine.

Has had my money since the 30th and still my items are not shipped and stuck on ' processing'.

This is my first buy from Provident. Bought some of 'their choice' rounds for the lowest price and found that I could only send payment and couldn't use a credit card. Bummer. (a $ 1,500 buy)Orderd and sent payment the same day. Checked nine days later and they JUST went to the post office to pick up the mail. Called Jeremy - said they'll ship in another six or seven days and again as much time for USPS delivery. Close to a month! More to follow when (and if) I receive them.

Went well. I would recommend them to my friends. I bought Silver Eagles which were labeled “delayed” which added about a week to the shipping time. I paid by check to avoid the CC charge, but it cleared by the time the my coins were ready to ship anyway. All in all I was pleased with the quality of my coins and service.

Followup purchase with Provident, this time Engelhard bars paid by bank wire. Another order placed on Sept 27th, received this time by Oct 6th due to the bank wire immediacy. Shipping once again reasonable, almost seems a percentage of how much you buy, buy more shipping goes up nominally. 2 for 2 so far with these guys so encouraging - can't say the same for other dealers.

No complaints on latest purchase, bought RCM Cougars on presell Sept 27th by check. Received coins in good order Oct 13th which isn't bad given my check had to clear first. Shipping charge is not outrageous but is slightly padded though as a seller myself, have to cover costs of packing materials etc.

I agree with user Corey. I used to purchase from Provident but never again! I purchased silver eagles and waited over a month for delivery even through there was no stated delay on the site. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Phone reps were also very rude and unprofessional

Just looking at the earlier posts at 1 - 2 days apart and all 5 stars. Plus they sound like advertisement... it's most likely people from provident boosting their own rating. Not a good look for them. Not very smart of them either. I haven't had major problems with them. I have an outstanding silver purchase that has been in 'processing' for almost a month. When I look at their site, they do have the item. I'm considering dropping them also. Hmmmm...

I used to love provident as well until they screwed me over and pissed me off. I would put 0 stars if I could. They screwed me on an order and called me saying they had to cancel it but could re issue at new market value. I said no way. I told the guy choose your next words closley as I have a $4200 order sitting in my cart right now. The moron had the nerve to tell me we can cancel the order then and charge you a $ 35 fee. Told him you just lost a lot of money hope you are happy. Needless to say I will probly never order from them again and will be emailing them an invoice from their competition of the $4200 order so they can see what they lost

used to love provident metals and spent thousands with them.But I ordered a 2006 quarters only silver proof set and received a clad one.I never order clad because Im an investor.Talked to jermey on the phone and he said that they sold out which was a lie. then he said it was a mistake send it back and they will pay shipping.they want a reciept which I cant print out off there site.And on top of that my debit card changed companys. and jeremy wants to put the money on the card. Its been two months now and Im pissed. wonder if they will just send me the set.Talked to a lawyer and said this is rare coin fraud. I went through the same thing with mint products.

At first I liked this dealer but am no longer doing business with them. They have a great web page and I like the real time prices but they screwed up several orders and pissed me off while trying to fix the last one

Issue 1 - Kennedy half mixed in with my Franklins. Check ALL of your tubes if you buy from them

Issue 2 - Ordered 100 Average Barber Dimes .. I actually recieved the right weight in dimes, but counted 108 dimes because many were cull very thin and were not the average dimes I expected.

Issue 3 - Recieved the poured version of a 100 OZ bullion bar when I explicitly ordered the Extruded

Final straw .. It cost me $26.95 + gas and time to ship the bullion back registered mail for Issue #3. I was told I would be compensated for the shipping expense. I emailed them the tracking info and cost of shipping. They never responded to the email and only sent me a 1/2 ounce silver round in compensation.... basically shorting me about $8.

Provident has to be the best bullion dealer on the website. They offer fast service, always perfect shipping, and great customer service. In an industry where the only difference really is service Provident delivers with timely and accurate shipping! Provident is my sole bullion provider and that will not change.

Bought my first silver rounds from them last week. A colleague of mine highly recommended PM. I've since checked a few dealers out there....but have not impressed with the shipping cost.

Ive bought silver from 7 different online bullion dealers, and Provident is by far the cheapest. Shipping is cheap and fast too. I placed my last order on Monday and got it on Thursday. These guys are just awesome. They are my go to guys for PM's.

Got silver a couple times from them, very professional and super fast shipping. Every order has been better then expected. we have been buying silver since it was 5 Federal Reserve Fiat Notes an oz with other companies. This is who we prefer to deal with now...
