Waiting, waiting, waiting more.

Made a recent purchase after having good initial success with them. Now waiting over two weeks and no delivery. Getting very anxious that they may not bring the goods. What is sad is they stated they had plenty of these coins when I placed the order.

I transacted about $2.5M with Tulving over mostly 2011. The company always sent payments on time. I had two negative experiences:

1. On one order they calculated the total incorrectly. Karen treated me like an idiot. When she finally figured out that the error was in their favor and that I was trying to return money to them, her attitude improved. However she was particularly unpleasant when trying to explain the mistake to them. And her hours were very limited, so it was challenging to reach her - of course, she was the only one able to handle the issue as the order takers were busy submitting their employment applications at McDonalds.

2. An order taker mistakenly recorded the nature of a batch I sent in. The mistake was roughly $50/coin and $900 for the order. Hannes admitted he received the right item but that it was my fault I didn't correct the order taker. He claimed he already sold the batch. Of course he resold the batch at the right price and kept the $900 markup. I gave him numerous chances to do the right thing, especially in light of our significant (over 25 orders), successful transaction history and that I had previously pointed out an error in his favor.

You can't do good business with bad (attitude, service, ethics) people.

Unpleasant crooks

I transacted about $2.5M with Tulving over mostly 2011. The company always sent payments on time. I had two negative experiences:

1. On one order they calculated the total incorrectly. Karen treated me like an idiot. When she finally figured out that the error was in their favor and that I was trying to return money to them, her attitude improved. However she was particularly unpleasant when trying to explain the mistake to them. And her hours were very limited, so it was challenging to reach her - of course, she was the only one able to handle the issue as the order takers were busy submitting their employment applications at McDonalds.

Great prices but not worth the stress

They took more than three weeks to send my silver, with various excuses that by the end were flatly contradicting earlier excuses. No delivery

Tried to buy 100 oz of Platinum. Multiple excuses for not delivering. The issue seemed to be that it was a big order. After 6 weeks gave up and sold it back to them. It took another 10 days to get my money back. I consider myself lucky that II escaped without a major loss. Never again

SLOW to SHIP & RUDE

I ordered several bags of 90% which were supposedly in stock and advertised to ship overnight. Well, when they advertise shipment overnight that does NOT mean they will ship your metal the day after they have your certified/wired Funds. No Sir. It means they will overnight it to you when they feel like it. In my case it was almost two months. My order was shipped in several "installments", divided by product. For instance, one shipment might have contained 90% junk silver, another gold bars, the 3rd silver coins, etc. The shipments came about a week apart, with the first package arriving less than a week after my order was placed. I placed the order on a Saturday night, wired funds Monday morning, and received emailed invoices confirming my payments immediately.
As I said, my first installment of precious metals came about a week after my funds were wired. I got an email letting me know the shipment was on the way, and it arrived bright and early the next morning. All of the other shipments were exactly the same - email one day, gold or silver product the following morning. Within about 3 weeks, I had gotten all of the products I ordered, and all items were exactly as Mr. Tulving described them.. no surprises!
I was extremely pleased with my purchase! The Tulving Company has the best prices I could find anywhere, for sure, and their delivery method and timing was perfectly acceptable to me. All in all, I had an excellent experience buying from Mr. Tulving and I will definitely do business with him again!

First of all, isn't it interesting how there are so many buyers who have gotten the shaft, and at the same time buyers who have nothing but praise and 5 star ratings for this outfit. Something smells fishy. My experience is as follows. I was interested in trading some 90% for boxes of silver eagles. Due to what I have read about this seller online, I refused to consider shipping my 90% with the promise of receiving my boxes of silver eagles. I was NOT going to get caught up in some months long fiasco. So I called and spoke to Hannes. I explained that I would like to make a direct trade, face to face. I could meet one of his people in a bank, at my house, at their warehouse or wherever he wanted. He said that was not an option. His reply was "If we did it your way, then we'd be sitting on millions of dollars worth of metals." When the website says 100 boxes in stock, 500 boxes in stock or whatever, apparently it isn't true. So I said, "OK, get the boxes then we can set up the trade." Again, not an option. The only choice I was given was that I could drop off my 90% in person (2500 oz minimum!) and I would get a receipt. Then I could pick up the eagles in a few days. He wants me to hand over $75,000 worth of silver to HIM? Wow, and all I get is a piece of paper / receipt? No thanks. Apparently, my 90% would first have to be sold, then he would have the funds to buy eagles for me as they were not "in stock" as it said on the website. He was friendly enough on the phone. Sure, he was trying to suck me in with my 2500 oz of silver. Of course he's going to be nice. Once I would hand him the silver, all the power would then be in HIS hands and I would be the one sweating bullets. That was the first and last time I deal with those guys. I found another dealer and was able to make my trades face to face with no bs.

Awful Experience

I have made a total of two purchases from Tulving, the first went smooth as silk whereas the second was a total nightmare. NEVER AGAIN! I have been a customer since 1999 and never had a problem with the approximately 75-100 previous orders until this one. The short story is that I did receive what I ordered but it took about 8 weeks after he received my wire payment. I don't know whether they don't have the merchandise in stock or whether they use customer's money as "float", or both. The delay in shipping is absolutely unacceptable. I was repeatedly given the excuse that their insurance had a daily cap on the dollar amount that could be shipped. This is absurd! If this is the problem, they need to up their coverage and the problem is fixed! I was also given the excuse that they don't ship on Thursdays (so that a package doesn't sit in a warehouse over the weekend if it doesn't get signed for). One of my packages ended up being shipped on Thursday! My humble opinion is that those awesome prices aren't worth the stress of worrying if your order will ever be received. I hope and pray that Tulving stays in business at least 6 months and 1 day after my order date. It is my understanding that bankruptcy courts can seize assets, including any merchandise sold in the previous 6 months, until the creditors and assets are sorted out. There are plenty of honest and professional bullion dealers out there not to have to put up with this treatment. I really feel for you other guys out there that are still waiting on their orders.

trustworthy firm

This is an excellent company. The prices are very competitive because they don't have a big sales force and other marketing expenses. You get exactly what you pay for in a reasonable amount of time. I see from other comments that delivery is sometimes delayed. That has never been my experience over many years. But even if one order got delayed, the key target is getting what you bought - and paying the right price. In this, Tulving performs. AVOID !!

Since this person was new to this, I offered to walk the process through. Never again, not with this company.

It took more than six weeks to complete delivery, during which time the new customer was quite nervous. The explanations from the customer service department seemed reasonable until I pushed the communication level up to Mr. Tulving himself. It then became apparent that customer service was being told what to tell people and that the real story was something other. The logic used by Mr. Tulving to explain why product paid for nearly six weeks earlier hadn't been shipped was ridiculous. When I pressed him on the issue, he became combative and unprofessional. I will never recommend his company again to anyone.

The only reason I gave a rating of "two stars" on customer service is in recognition of the nice lady who takes care of shipping and who obviously has to take all of the flak created by Mr. Tulving's lack of transparency, forthrightness, and his evasive answers to questions. She did her best to make things happen and to provide explanations but her story was often in conflict with Mr. Tulving's "story". I feel sorry for this lady and hope that she is able to find a better job with a better employer.

Karen assured me that they had the product in stock, and she was pleasant as she explained that the delay was due to a backlog of orders caused by restrictions imposed by their insurance company on the amount they can ship each day. It does make sense that the insurance company would limit the amount that can be put on each UPS truck, thereby limiting their potential loss if a truck is involved in an accident or is targeted by thieves, and it also makes sense that no shipments would be allowed on Friday since UPS doesn’t move on weekends and merchandise would be sitting idle for 2 days in a relatively insecure location.

Still, I’m skeptical that there’s no solution to the problem of long shipping delays. If they can’t renegotiate terms with the insurance company or contract with UPS for multiple pickups each day, they could clear the backlog by shipping some orders through the postal service, which most PM dealers consider to be the safest shipping method. At the very least, the shipping limitations should be explained on their website so buyers know what to expect.

The fact that they haven’t taken steps to resolve the issue invites suspicion that something nefarious may be going on. At best it shows poor management and a lack of respect for customers. My experience wasn’t as bad as that of other reviewers, but unless their shipping times improve, I doubt I’ll take a chance on ordering from them again.

I'm not much for dishonest game playing, so after a month and the fourth time of hearing my order would be shipped in 3-4 days, I asked to sell my order back as was promised. Karen said they didn't do that. I called back the next day, and spoke with Kevin as if I hadn't dealt with him. He said, as he had before, that any silver they sold, they would buy back. So, I told him my silver is supposed to be there but has never been shipped. He reluctantly went ahead, but that a check would be sent. How's that? Wire my money in, but Tulving sends a check? I realized that either they don't have the silver yet and don't want to be honest enough to tell me, or they are waiting for the silver to drop more so they can make more money off my order. In any case, there was clear dishonesty on their part as far as I was concerned, and I wanted no part of their games anymore. The price of silver rose, but I still lost over $400 to Tulving on the order and over $3,000 because the price of silver rose during the period of dealing with them. If you want an experience like that, go ahead, order with them. I've learned not to do so. I'll go to my local dealer, give my cash to them and walk out with silver in my hand. I will not order over the phone or internet. It may cost more to deal with a local, but it's a crap shoot dealing with people who are 2,500 miles away. Tulving? Not I again. Go ahead if you want a similar experience. Quite frankly, it seems to me, Tulving just doesn't give a damn.

Incredibly, I received my dimes the next business day! Their staff were very knowledgeable and helpful each time I ordered or e-mailed/called to follow-up. Hannes & his staff are strictly business. Tulving prices are the best in the business. Best Value of any Dealer

Tulving prices are the best in the business. Not only are their spreads impossible to beat, but shipping is FREE, there sales people do not receive commissions, there are no fees for insurance, you just pay for your PM. You can't beat it. When your order ships, it ships overnight. Gold orders usually ship in 5 to 7 days and Silver in 7 to 10 days. They do not ship on Friday, Sat, or Sun, so you have to keep that in mind when calculating your shipping days. All in all I had a good experience with Tulving and I will definetly buy from them again.

First rep was great on phone, but I had to wait until I was able to confirm that my bank could wire the funds within the set parameters. Got that confirmation but it was tight, called Tulving back 2 days later and spoke to different rep--very different, very arrogant attitude. Placed order though, then asked the simple question about what the procedure is if my bank was delayed on the wire. What followed was a lecture from some obviously young fellow that I had made a committment and that he expected payment on time, repleat with the appending, "do you understand?". Pretty insulting in that he knew nothing at all about me, and we sure don't do business that way out here in Texas....but fine, I'm talking to someone in California with too much self esteem, I'll get over it since the price is right. Well, wire actually got there same day, lo and behold, and I received an electronic invoice but sans tracking number. Then the wait began. I'm afraid that despite their feelings to the contrary, Tulving is not the only thing going on in my life as a doctor.....it was hard to find time to call, but after reading their website again and learning what a wonderful guy Hennes Tulving is, and being advised to email him anytime about anything, I took a dare and asked for an estimate on shipping date. What I got back was a terse "I don't handle, call so and so". Who? number? What the hell? WILCO today, we'll see what happens I suppose. Sure hope I don't have to make time for a trip to California, but after reading all these other reviews I just might have to. I've got some pretty healthy self esteem too, once I'm angry enough.

Got that confirmation but it was tight, called Tulving back 2 days later and spoke to different rep--very different, very arrogant attitude. Placed order though, then asked the simple question about what the procedure is if my bank was delayed on the wire. What followed was a lecture from some obviously young fellow that I had made a committment and that he expected payment on time, repleat with the appending, "do you understand?". Pretty insulting in that he knew nothing at all about me, and we sure don't do business that way out here in Texas....but fine, I'm talking to someone in California with too much self esteem, I'll get over it since the price is right. Well, wire actually got there same day, lo and behold, and I received an electronic invoice but sans tracking number. Then the wait began. I'm afraid that despite their feelings to the contrary, Tulving is not the only thing going on in my life as a doctor.....it was hard to find time to call, but after reading their website again and learning what a wonderful guy Hennes Tulving is, and being advised to email him anytime about anything, I took a dare and asked for an estimate on shipping date. What I got back was a terse "I don't handle, call so and so". Who? number? What the hell? WILCO today, we'll see what happens I suppose. Sure hope I don't have to make time for a trip to California, but after reading all these other reviews I just might have to. I've got some pretty healthy self esteem too, once I'm angry enough.

Tulving has the best value for the money. Yes, Mr Tulving is gruff, and is a no bull shit type of guy but he is more than fair. They are operating on a low overhead to give the best prices. Warning: do not ship PM via UPS to your home address because the delivery driver will give your PM to your neighbor if your not there,even if it requires a signiture. I have read the reviews on Tulving but for me, and I believe the vast majority, Tulving Coins is the best place to buy or sell precious metals. I was drawn to Tulving because of the prices and have never had a problem with customer service. I haven't been able to find better prices anywhere whether I'm buying or selling - and I'm not talking a few pennies per ounce. I recently sold my silver for spot price to Tulving. Try that at your friendly neighborhood coin shop. And right after one of my purchases for 1-ounce gold Canadian Maple Leafs I had a change in travel plans hit me. Hannes personally ensured fast-track delivery. I'm not a big wig who buys thousands of ounces of gold, just a little guy who makes semi-regular purchases. Every coin shop I've ever visited recognizes the name Tulving. And whenever I call or walk into a coin shop and ask if they can beat Tulving's prices I always get the same reaction: a shake of the head or a simple despondent "no." They don't even ask me what price Tulving is buying or selling at or what metal/coin/bar I'm referring to.

Before buying or selling I always check around and will continue to do so but I will be surprised if I find better prices than Tulving. If you can find better - for buying or selling - from a reputable, established dealer please let me know. I have been checking for ten years and have yet to find one. vp

Great prices and service

I can only conclude that the tulving company is very busy ,or does not have the bullion in stock and orders it theirselves from thier suppliers the ships it out .this really doesn't bother me so long as I recieve my order within a week , I would say this that the Tulving company should at least tell customers when they can expect their bullion ,at time of purchase , and not leave it to such a vague time when you may receive the items . It tends to make people very concerned , because few people make purchases of this size on a daily basis. Mr. Tulving deals in large volumes of precious metals on a daily basis , but average Joe does not ,and it takes a lot of trust in a company to send that company $30,000.00 or more , so Mr. Tulving should read some of these reports ,and take heed. It could do wonders for his business if he would just give a expected time of delivery ,and then make sure it is delivered at that time ,this is only good business practices, I know when I was in business dealing with other businesses if you missed your delivery dates you ultamently lost your customers , same thing can happen here if Mr. Tulvings reviews continue to be bad , however everything said , I will continue to buy from this company until I'm disatisfied .

recieved shipment

Warning - Tulving provides poor service

The only way a dealer can stay solvent is to buy immediately when they sell and have sufficient goods on hand before his new order arrives. This take BIG BIG BUCKS (and BIG you know what) in inventory and proper modern systems... not a back of the envelope dealer operation with person A referring you to person B who refers you to person A again and then just says take our work for it.

If you read that delivery times are getting progressively longer and longer for customers who purchase common bullion, that may mean the dealer is losing more and more and needing your float to appear solvent.

For me from now on, they need to ship in 3-4 days. Any longer other than the two weeks before xmas tells me to run fast and hold on to my wallet.

Debt is the evil that brings some of us to buy these coins. Dealers Debt (they have my money but wait 3 weeks to ship) is just as bad.

I am not a bank giving free loans.

I will say this after reading some of these reports I was very leary of ordering from this company, but because of the lower prices I took a chance on this company, Mr. Tulving seems to be a very busy man when talking to him on the phone ,I can understand this as I was in business myself for many years before retiring, I think people may be mislead a bit by his overnight shipping ,he does not say that he's so busy that it may take a week or two before he can ship the items that you order just that he will shipped it next day air, which to me is a little misleading ,and people can become worried about their order because of sending a company $30,000.00 or more and then not getting thier order the next day as implied , he should ease peoples mind a little bit and put on his site that it may take up to two weeks before we can ship ,but you will be notified by email when shipped and we will ship next day air.I place my order on 6/20/2012 ,the same day I was emailed a invoice stating my purchase had been paid for by wire tranfer nothing about shipping, on 6/26/12 I contacted the company talked to a young man that was polite and courtious ask him about my order ,he said of course they were running behind due to a large amount of orders and that it may be next week before they could process my order , I wasn't upset but having never done business with this company was a little concerned ,within a couple hours after talking to him I was emailed a tracking # and recieved my order the very next day at 9:30 am . So I think the company is ok to do business with just understaffed ,but that's how he keeps the cost down , but he should state to potientual customers that it may take a couple of weeks before shipment. I might add the 20 maple leafs I recieved were absolutely beautiful!

No word on shipment after two weeks!!!

I ordered gold over two weeks ago. Payment by bank wire, confirmed the next day. Since then, I have not received the shipment and Karen (their customer "service" person) keeps telling me "they are running behind" but no word on when it will be shipped. Nice and polite to talk to, but no commitment or even an estimate on when they will ship. I am unable to sleep at night worrying about what kind of scam I may be a victim of.

I ordered my silver from Tulving himself on May 16th. I called on the 6th of May at 8:34 a.m. and was told I did not get it because it did not go out but would go out that day!

It still has not arrived and when called today the 7th of June I was told by Karen that the computer would not allow her to send me the tracking number emails (seems like a lie to me!) and that there were 4 of them and she was too busy to give them to me over the phone and to call tomorrow if I do not receive the silver again.

It really sucks to have given them the payment up front and this is the best that they can do is to tell me that they have no control of my not getting the product.

I am writing this to warn potential customers about this poor service. Buy at your own risk!!

Like Gold Bug I have ordered both gold and silver from Tulving for the past seven years many times. Always received an invoice and tracking number the same day. I ordered gold from him last Friday morning and got an email with the invoice number after I sent the wire. By Monday I still had no tracking number....so I emailed Hannes at the email address on his website asking for a tracking number. Got a curt reply--"I do not handle, call Karen at..." I have talked to Hannes in the past when ordering (thank goodness he has some curteous employees now who answer the phone) and from those conversations I know the man has no social skills to speak of. Didn't matter to me, however, as I always got the goods pronto. I did call and talk to Karen who told me it was way too early to expect a tracking number as they don't have the merchandise in their actual possession for insurance reasons. I did not receive a tracking number by email today (Tuesday) either. After reading other posters comments, I am getting extremely worried about this. If I don't have a tracking number by late tomorrow afternoon I am going to call and request a refund. Regardless of how this turns out, I think I will not be ordering anything from them again.

agree with last three reviews---good til they are not

Like Gold Bug I have ordered both gold and silver from Tulving for the past seven years many times. Always received an invoice and tracking number the same day. I ordered gold from him last Friday morning and got an email with the invoice number after I sent the wire. By Monday I still had no tracking number....so I emailed Hannes at the email address on his website asking for a tracking number. Got a curt reply--"I do not handle, call Karen at..." I have talked to Hannes in the past when ordering (thank goodness he has some curteous employees now who answer the phone) and from those conversations I know the man has no social skills to speak of. Didn't matter to me, however, as I always got the goods pronto. I did call and talk to Karen who told me it was way too early to expect a tracking number as they don't have the merchandise in their actual possession for insurance reasons. I did not receive a tracking number by email today (Tuesday) either. After reading other posters comments, I am getting extremely worried about this. If I don't have a tracking number by late tomorrow afternoon I am going to call and request a refund. Regardless of how this turns out, I think I will not be ordering anything from them again.

I have used Tulving many times and have done literally hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of business with them without ever having an issue. I recommended them to everyone. Now out of the blue I have a problem. I wired them the money for two boxes of Canadian Wildlife Series Maples. They say everything they post on their website is "in stock" but they have had my wire for over three weeks and no word on delivery. I was told last week by Karen that Mr Tulving promised that they would ship this week and "Mr Tulving always keeps his word" well no Silver yet and its Tuesday. If I don't get it in the next two days then it will officially be a month since they received my money. They are very rude when you call and just ask about when they think it will be. There are plenty of other places to by bullion just as cheap. Nothing special about Tulving. They use to have the best buy sell spreads but now they don't even have that. I won't be using them again. There are plenty of other dealers that will treat you right.

Beware these guys. The prices are the lowest but whatever they promise on the website or even on the phone is bound to change. I've always gotten my stuff but sometimes not when promised. This last order was a trade of my gold for their silver. I was told everything was in stock and would ship within five days of receipt of my gold. My gold made it to them in a day and a week later I called to see where the silver was, then they tell me policy was to ship out two to three weeks after payment received. That pisses me off. The worst though was the initial conversation with the owner where he contradicted himself multiple times during the conversation and was somewhat rude as I asked questions.I mentioned that his employee had told me one thing and he started shouting at me about hearsay, etc. I found myself thinking he suffered from borderline personality disorder and that I was actually having a conversation with someone that wasn't coherent. Thats a bit frightening when you have sent that person $30k of you gold. If someone beat their price I would never use them again

In both instances, I was told that they were "running behind" and that my shipment "may go out this week" but could not be assured.

On the bright side, Tulving seems to have hired some assistants who are courteous on the phone! Too bad - I would have preferred the old Tulving from two years ago who was rude but shipped on time.

Excellent company

I have bought once and sold once to this company and both times it went SUPER smooth. They are the ONLY (unless you want to lose your butt to spreads) company to go to when trading larger quantities precious metals.
