SAD company, what happened, tried 4x to work with customer service to BUY coins and basically after being a customer for over a decade, they said basically I was too stupid to work their website. They didn't care the website didn't work. I am going elsewhere. APMEX lost another excellent customer.

Bait and switch
I saw a good price on a flash sale on the web site. I chose the wire transfer option as it was less expensive. I did not realize this would require me to go to my bank and sign paperwork as well as pay a fee for the wire transfer. I though it was a pay by check kind of thing. I called about 10 minutes after making my order to cancel. I was told by a very threatening representative named Tiffany that my options were to change my payment method and pay more or pay a $35 cancellation fee (that they will send to collections). This is a textbook bait and switch tactic, and I will be filing formal complaints with my attorney generals office and the FTC respectively. It's not about the money, because it really is not much. It is about being deceitful and threatening to your clientele. No matter what APMEX does at this point they have lost a customer for life.

Dirty folks, unethical and dishonest
Have ordered from APMEX several times in years past, usually happy with product and service. Recently ordered a random manufacturer/secondary market bar, expecting a bar with wear, scratches, dings, and so on. Bar arrived looking like it had sat at the bottom of someone's toilet tank: discolored to the point you couldn't tell it was Ag unless told. Yellow-brown stains throughout, it's hideous.
Posted a polite but detailed review of this indisputablly poor condition product on their website, my only 1-star review among many other 5-stars. Having dealt with APMEX for some time, I believed them to be an organization with integrity. A number of their employees have shared by phone with me that they're Christian people which I am also, so I felt safe doing business with them.
But when you pawn garbage product off on paying customers and then _delete_ their honest report to other customers of what they received, that makes you a LIAR. Posting only 4 and 5-star reviews is unethical and devious, and serves only to victimize the uninformed.
I'm DONE with APMEX, as they are not honest. Can't wait to see how they come on this site and try to deny that they did all these things. To other buyers I say: beware APMEX, they are deceiving you. Shameful.

apmex made mistake in pricing a gold coin - i bought 3 of them at such a good deal - transactions were complete and paid for - next day they cancelled the orders and said sorry! people that don't stand behind their own mistakes are untrustworthy - they will charge you market loss and restocking fees if you cancel on them - very one sided company i will NEVER deal with again and if your smart you will stay away too

Taken advantage of on my first order..
I read a number of APMEX reviews before making my first purchase with them. One of those reviews was from another customer (review below mine) who had to return incorrect coins. Incredibly, APMEX did the same to me on an order I placed two weeks after the review below posted. I ordered a 1923d Saint Gaudens $20 gold double eagle coin priced at $2,195, and received a 1907 Indian $10 coin with a price of $1,095. The ripoff attempt is bad enough, but the return hassle is icing on the cake.

Ordered a few hundred dollars worth of coins. The majority of the coins had mass discoloration/dings/dents and even an unknown sticky substance.
I notified them 5-18 of the issue and requested RMA#

Loyalty appears to be a one way street
I've been using APMEX for over 3 years and have been very satisfied with the product and service, until now. I am a Platinum Member and that supposedly guarantees me loyalty rewards. Among those rewards is guaranteed delivery on credit card orders placed before 4 pm on a week day. I placed my order at 7:37 in the morning of 2/11/2016. I immediately received an email they had received payment and the order. I didn't hear anything else all day. Come Friday morning of 2/12 I called them to cancel the order. Obviously the Platinum Membership means nothing. I wanted to receive the order on Saturday, not next week. Well come and find out they charged $35 to cancel an order. Ok, you rewarded me for all my money and orders with promises you won't honor. I was not satisfied at all with their customer service person, they hardly seemed to have any skills in trying to resolve a customer complaint. Anyway I told her forget it, just ship the item and I'll shop elsewhere from now on. I don't think she cared less. Well anyway here it is, 12:30 on 2/12 and it still hasn't shipped. If I don't hear form them soon. I am done with APMEX for good.

Working with APMEX was extremely easy. The shipping was fast and the communication was great all the way through. I was interested in 10 oz silver bars so I called in and the person I spoke with was very friendly and answered a lot of questions. I ended up going with APMEX's own bar and I couldn't be happier. I ordered a 1 oz Gold American Eagle and I'm very happy with it. this is definitely one of the most appealing coins in my collection, and I definitely plan on getting more. I've been investing in more precious metals these days, as my 401k doesn't have as many investment options as I would like.I got the idea to finally begin investing elsewhere, and found Apmex when researching different companies. Apmex has made it easy to build my wealth in precious metals. This was my third order this year, and it certainly won't be my last. The customer service was some of the best that I have encountered. Cross your fingers that you get what you ordered
I ordered two MS64 PCGS Morgan Silvers Dollars and received a 40th anniversary Eisenhower coin and a 1923 MS63 Peace Dollar.
I called APMEX the morning after receiving the wrong coins and was told that the return department had to investigate and would get back to me (like that's my problem?). A couple of hours later I received a message that the investigation determined that the mistake was due to human error (Duh!) and that I would be receiving an email with a RMA shipping label. 4-5 hours later I received the email with the label and instructions. I mail the incorrect coins back the following morning. USPS delivered the package on Monday Nov 30th. Apmex did not update me that they had received so I called them late Tues AM 12/1. They said it was received but had to process it and that I would get an email with more info. Received an email Tues pm stating that they had received the package but that it would take 3-5 days to process it (must of had a ton of returns). Late Friday 12/4 I received an email that they had processed my return and that the two Morgan coins were not available and would refund my money. ( I checked the website and one of the two coins was still showing available?) Bottom-line cross your fingers that your order is done correctly or go through the frustrating and lengthy return process described above. Good luck.

An A1 Solid Trustworthy Seller
I am very happy with APMEX. They never fail to please, offering competitive prices and quick shipment (that is unless I order and pay with a check and I totally get the wait time for funds clearing and have done that way to get best price). I have to say I have purchased from other sellers (rarely) and constantly compare for best price but APMEX very often is the leader of the pack and I love buying from them. Never, never disappointed with any item I purchase both in quality, care in packaging, delivery. They stand out as one of the best of the best. A company that I completely love and trust. I have had no need to contact customer service however if I got less than expected from a CS Rep... Supervisors are always available. I know things would be handled fairly, because I expect it.

2400$ order blown over the 2$ item.
I received a beautiful trio of gold ducats, a stunning 1 ounce gold proof libertad, and my long desired 20 Peso gold coin.
All very nice, as expected, packed perfectly, etc.
On website when ordering, link for "correct direct fit airtite" displayed on coin page. I added this exact direct link airtite for my 20 Peso.
It doesn't fit. Customer service (after 8 minute hold) refused to send correct size. Said it "has to be reviewed in shipping dept as a claim and in 3 to 6 days you will get an answer".
I will buy the correct airtite at my local coin shop. I will not use APMEX again, as the CS rep made clear that "ordering the wrong size isn't our fault". Um, your link, your problem.

Round was not available until September 4th, nowhere in the description does it have an "out of stock". You see the out of stock once you pay for it. I tried to cancel my order but they charge a $35 dollar cancellation fee, plus any market loss. Worst company, better off going with someone else. I will NEVER order from them again.

It's not a way to treat new customers! I used my credit Card for transaction. Couple hours later, I checked my order, it was declined. I called my credit card, transaction went through. Now they took money and declined my order. I ordered from many different companies before, never had this experience! Poor unreliable customer service!

I contacted APMEX to sell a 100gr. Credit Suisse gold bullion in August 2015. The transaction over the phone was quick and easy. The offer I got was better than other offers I previously had. One of the best
I made a mistake in my check payment to them and they allowed me to make the difference on my credit card without a fee. They waited a reasonable amount of time for the check to clear their banking system which is good for their protection. Some reviewers here don't understand that when you see the check cashed in your statement it can still take a number of days to clear the merchants banking system. Order was well packed, sent promptly, and no indication that is was from a metals dealer. The couple of times I had to contact them they were professional, very polite and helpful.

This was my second order with APMEX. I order various products as well as some capsules to go with the coins. I messed up and ordered the wrong capsules. I called their customer service and blown away by the service. They answered the phone quickly and Rebecca was a pleasure. To my amazement, they paid the freight to allow me to return the wrong capsules. I received an email when my return arrived and another mail when they sent out the replacement, which was the same day from when my capsules had arrived to them. Overall a great experience and can see why they are so well regarded.

First off, I don't think there is an absolute best precious metals dealer out there. It all depends on what you collect. I am a platinum member for 2 years and buy mostly large quantity of Geiger Silver bars, , older Libertads, Perth Silver Lunar coins and $50 Gold Mexican Pesos. They do have the best selection of any dealer out there and I always try to buy on a dip or when they advertise a sale or special with ebay.
With that said, I use other dealers, such as JM Bullion for silver bars, Provident for Lunar MCM for NGC graded modern coins.
Overall, they have to be one of the top 3 dealers in any category in my opinion and I will continue to use in the future.

No Games, No Hidden Costs, Amazing Service
Im new to buying precious metals, and luckily I quickly found APMEX. They ship ultra quick, and it is delivered in a discrete yet secure packaging. Received 3 days after placing order in CA. Quality was perfect. Now on to everyone's issue with APMEX and that's price. They do seem expensive, however with free shipping over 99 they beat most competitors prices once you factor in shipping. Also like anything shopping around is critical. If your investing it's not about what shape the metal is (bar, rounds, coin, etc) it's about accumulating weight. I've shopped APMEX and have always been able to find a great deal, especially on silver. I won't buy from anyone else, there is enough risk inherit in precious metals, I'll stick with a company that actually seems to think customer service is important.

Good, but has become too expensive
I've bought and sold quite a bit with APMEX. Unfortunately, their premiums have risen a bit too far the past year. Previously, their specials were quite good. Now, only if you are ordering at the highest quantities are they reasonable. Their selection is impressive. Only a few times have I been a bit disappointed (from shattered plastic covering on 10oz bars, which cut me to very battered, but new Silvertown bars). As buyers, they were very reliable. Given the issues involved in bullion trading, I am not too upset about delays in check clearance and shipping. The bullion business is simply not like Amazon selling books.

Don't Sell to Them
Shipped off my metal that I have been safeguarding for years. Made it to Oklahoma City two days after I shipped. The shipping date was January 16th it's the 31st of January now. I have strings of email confirmation of receipt and no money in my Bank account. If you know APMEX I am a platinum buyer, by their standard their top level. I couldn't get anyone there to help me. I hope I see my money at some point. I will never purchase again. You pay more through APMEX. And please don't sell to APMEX. You may wait forever before you see your money.

Not the Cheapest but Probably the Best out there
I've been a follower of precious metals for quite some time now (Mining Stocks and ETF's mostly) and finally took the plunged and ordered physical bullion about a month ago (Trying to get out of "paper gold and paper silver".) Being new to "stacking" i was concerned after doing research and hearing about the flood of counterfeits coming out of China, merchants stealing money (Tulving), super delayed shipping, receiving low quality or damaged bullion, etc. After extensive research, i decided to go with APMEX for my first order and I was glad that I did. I opted to mail in a check (which made the process much longer then some people would be comfortable with) but throughout the process, i received email updates such as when they received my check, when they processed the order, when the items were shipped, etc. Besides, anyone who wanted the items quicker, could have opted for quicker methods of payment but i decided to pay the lowest premium over spot and didnt' mind the wait.
Overall , the bars, coins and rounds received were in VERY good condition, and pleasantly came in sealed tubes or in plastic sheets / flips ; Everything neatly and discreetly packed.
Since receiving the order i have compared daily, prices between APMEX, Kitco, Provident, JM Bullion, Goldsilver.com and Gainsville; The 6 companies who i consider big players within the bullion sales world. In my opinion, is APMEX the cheapest? Probably Not. Can you find other companies out there that will have lower over spot prices with free shipping? Maybe But in my opinion, APMEX makes up more for it with Superior customer service, a wider selection, and a reputation which they stand by, to the T. Besides, some of their "on sale" items, are priced lower then the other sites i just mentioned and they are offering free shipping for the Holidays..I guess finding the absolute best possible price, is not always possible or easy...But when dealing with APMEX, paying slightly more to me, is worth the small price to have that *** PEACE OF MIND ***; That my/your earned money won't just vanish into thin air one day...
APMEX was definitely the right company for me to take the plunge and i'm looking forward to ordering from them again..

Shipping charges=scam
Shipping charges to Canada are a scam.Cost me $69.48 in shipping charges for an order.The weight surcharge and extended area surcharge are a total scam. From now on the only US dealer i'll buy from is Provident metals,They only charge $20 to Canada.

The Pro's are obvious: Great selection of products "in stock". Quick ship. Good reputation.
The Con's: Shipping isn't Free. Premiums are too high, even for bullion bars which should be very little over spot. Some premiums for silver bars are as high as sovereign minted coins like Maples, Eagles, etc. That just shouldn't be. Overall, APMEX is a great place to buy Precious Metals. In the few times that i've actually had to deal with Customer Service, it's been as pleasant as i should expect in this day in age where customers are dispensable. APMEX isn't perfect, but they're the Industry Leader in my opinion.

I would never buy from APMEX again. This is my 4th purchase and every time they failed. I purchased the same item from another supplier, It took 10 days to receive the item from the other supplier instead of the 26 days from APMEX... and the price for the same item was $350 more from APMEX the the other supplier.
