Golden Eagle Coins

I am a recent collector to the bullion world but by no means a "small" collector. So far, and this is five orders now of varying items and monetary worth, I have not had any issues and verified each item independently upon receipt. So I have no idea where the other reviews are coming from but a 15 day wait on bullion is SHORT. I waited, on average, 21 days from JM Bullion and over 35 days on average from Gold Bureau and others. So I have zero idea about the other reviews, only going by RECENT, REAL, and BONA FIDE orders placed.

An honest precious metals dealer is worth their weight in gold. I've had some really awful experiences with some shops and dealers, so I absolutely appreciate how great GEC is. You also have to realize that they are a small shop, not a bullion warehouse like some of their online competitors, so their shipping and handling is going to be slower and more expensive. The S&H fees and delays are listed on their website. Sorry, in this day and age you have to accept a long delay if paying by check.

I really don't get the outrage in some of these negative reviews. In order to add an item to your cart, you have to click a button right next to a list of prices of the item with different forms of payment (cash, CC, PayPal, and now Bitcoin). Pretty hard to miss. It's not like they sneak in the higher price for credit cards when you aren't looking.

One issue I do have with their UX is that, once items are added to the cart, the price in your cart assumes you're paying with cash, then updates when you choose a payment method at checkout. I don't consider this dishonest at all, as you don't decide which payment method you're using until you check out, so there is no way to avoid this given the current setup. Maybe some of these negative experiences could be prevented if they asked what your method of payment was going to be before you put stuff in your cart, so they can display the correct price in the cart rather than having it change when you go to check out.

Regardless, my experiences with them both by mail and in person have been great.

I made every purchase in person and can honestly say that they are the most trustworthy group of folks I have ever met. Their shop on Cherry lane became too small and they had to move to the new facility. Same high quality same high service just in a new nicer location. I don't give five stars - they earned them from me.

The buying experience was pretty easy and once I mailed my check I was excited to get my coins. It was then that I found out after they received the check, I would have to wait 15 days. After waiting the 15 days, it still was not marked as shipped. I'm still waiting for my product and very disappointed with this process. I will not buy from here again.

Mailed Bank's Cashier Check for order... they have the right, per their "policies", to sit on the money for TEN DAYS! The thing is that they don't just hold it for ten days. THEY HOLD IT FOR 15 DAYS!!!!

And when you call, they tell you if you don't like how they do it, don't order from them.

Silver bars beautifully minted and sealed for protection. Decent shipping time. Signature confirmation is required on all orders to make sure nothing is stolen if left on your front porch. This means if you are not home you may have to go to the post office to pick it up. But a few extra minutes to ensure I receive what I spent good money for doesn't bother me. They have an office in Laurel, MD so if you are local you can go pick up your order in person. They seem to want payment by check or wire transfer (cash is accepted if picking up in person,) which seems somewhat antiquated. I would purchase from them again.

I would never order from this place again. Thankfully, there are other reputable providers out here. Customer service sucks. Too long for shipping and too many fees. I was told by Clint, "the self declared" head man in charge, that the owner would not be concerned about my complaints because it's "only $290". Needless to say, mr.Clint lost a valuable customer for life! And i will be using my influence to ensure all potential customers are made aware of this arrogance. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE!! Go to silver.com. much faster service and waay more congenial.

Took them almost three weeks to get my product to me. I had to email twice, no response, then had to call. They finally sent my package three days after I called them when they promised it would go out the day I called. I received my 100 Britannia's and it looked like they had gone through and collected every damaged, scratched, defaced coin they could find. Not a single coin was undamaged! I will never do business with this company again and would recommend the same to you. I have also noticed they only put the positive reviews on their web page and just toss out the negative ones. Hope this helps someone to avoid the mess I had to go through.

I bought a coin which is good. I got charged $38.60 to use PayPal. I called PayPal and they told me they should not be charging this high fee for a customer to use PayPal to buy their items. With the high price they charge for shipping $24.95 Priority insured which is way more then the real cost they ripped me off of $63.55 in excess fees. I will never buy again with these high fees as there are many other companies that charge far less and free shipping. I have also filed a complaint with the Attorney generals Office in their state.

Outstanding company, excellent selection-all metals, pricing is the lowest in the country, customer service 100% to serve the needs of the client. Shipping has never been any problem and email notification is carried out at every step of the process. I had requested my coins be packaged in Golden Eagle cloth storage bags instead of the usual plastic wrap, and my request was granted. Very sturdy bags which saved me from purchasing them from another company at a later time. The whole experience has been a total pleasure dealing with this fine company. I plan to visit Golden Eagle in the near future at their Laural, MD.

On 9/3/2011 and again on 11/23/2011, because the price was slightly lower than APMEX, I ordered some 1 oz Platinum Canadian Maple Leafs coins from Golden Eagle Coins. The first order was filled successfully but on the second order they said they were out of the coins I ordered and offered a refund or they would substitute the Canadian Maple coins for less desirable 1 oz Australian Platinum Platypus coins. I am certain they could have ordered more Canadian Maple Leafs or they could have filled my order by offering to substitute the Maple Leafs with the more expensive American Silver Eagles.

Regardless of the reason, it was their mistake. Therefore, offers to substitute should be with better or higher price items; not lower price items. In any event, the price of Platinum had not changed much so I accepted a refund rather than accept a less desirable product. I have not order from them again since I prefer to order from more reliable companies even if the price is slightly higher.

I have always been wary of purchasing ANYTHING on the web, but I live in a small town with very few shopping options for my growing coin collection. So, before givng any web vendor my credit card info, I do a little digging. Two years ago was my first time to their site, and I was grateful that others had rated them highly and as reputable when I looked for information about them on the web. While Golden Eagle is known for its bullion sales, they are also very reputable and consistent when it comes to serving the needs/wants of an average collector looking to fill gaps in their collection. Their web site is easy to use and the prices are about average retail. If you are not sure about buying coins on the web, I think you can trust this site. They have an actual business location (Maryland) - that has served the collecting public for decades. I have purchased from them on three occasions, and always got what I wanted. Try them; I think you will be pleased.

When I first bought some back dated gold pandas from this site, the biggest complaint was the surprise credit card fee they tacked on the order. At least some sites list the cost in credit card vs checks but I got hit with a higher cost upon checkout. After being a little peeved, I received my coin only a few days later and saw that it was in mint condition and forgot about the high premium I paid for the coin. I ordered other coins they had that I was missing and all were in mint condition in plastic. This is a good site for good quality numistmatics and they tell you if they are selling you a cull or a mint. I would go elsewhere for bullion though as you can get bullion for lower premiums and it doesn't matter if bullion is in bad shape, unless of course you want your bars to be shiny then come to this site.

I was a little skeptical because I haven't purchased this high of a dollar amount before so I called to find out the details before ordering online. The woman on the phone was very nice and explained the packages are all sent insured and I could pick the items up at the post office if I wanted to. I went ahead with the online order and received my items a week later. I would recommend Golden Eagle to my friends and family :)

They have a large selection. Low premiums. Excelent customer service, they even sell numastic coins and currency
