Purchased 100 2014 Silver Canadian Maple Leafs in April. 20 of them arrived with black grease marks over the coins. Requested RMA and received response and replacement coins relatively quickly. However of the 20 replacement coins, 1 still had the black grease marks issue. Requested another RMA, and this time there was no response. Called in and was told they are flooded with emails and will respond within 1 week. Well it has been 2 months and no response. Extremely disappointed in Provident's lack of service and commitment behind their product. Will no longer purchase from Provident.

Everything went smooth. The items were received on time. Ordering was easy. Will buy from again.

Provident Metals shipped my coins with no bubble wrap, newspaper or other protective material. One of the coin tubes cracked and I received half of the Almost Uncirculated Morgan Silver dollars significantly scratched. I had ordered $3,200 worth of coins, appoximately $700 dollars worth were scratched due to improper packaging. In e-mailing a rep and having a phone conversation, I stated they should pay for shipping that included a signature receipt of the merchandise I was returning. They sent me a label that would have no proof that I returned the merchandise so I had to pay another $14 to return the coins. I thought it was better to lose $14 on shipping than the $700 worth of coins. I received an automated e-mail stating they received my returned coins. Its been three days and a phone rep stated they will be reviewing the return. My thoughts were you wanted my payment postmarked the next day but you haven't looked at the coins I returned, made me pay to ship them back and are delaying the return of my new coins? How was my order not a priority? If Provident Metals steals my coins I will be taking them to court for the value of my coins and file with the Better Business Bureau. I asked the phone rep I spoke to on 3/14/2014 if he were in my shoes would he ever do business with his company again? He said yes. This company is clueless when it comes to accountablility and how to be a reputable company. I will never do business with them again.

I am a repeat customer with Provident Metals and a very satisfied one at that! I have tried many others out there, and few come close to Provident's selection, price, and turn around time. I'm like a kid in a candy store there. I've bought silver eagles,90% junk silver,40% junk ,35% war nickels, Silver Rounds,Canadian Maple leaves and even some of their copper bars and Rounds. Always get what I ordered and what is described, and get it at a fair price and quickly.

Never an issue, never a delay of more than a week in shipping times, and the shipping rates are reasonable unlike some. Better still is they offer free shipping when you pick up certain offered items.. I've used that method alot.

Its refreshing to see a seller out there that gives value and Service to their customers...some do one or the other, both Provident does it all.

Provident used to be great. I've ordered from them many times. It seems like recently, things have gone downhill. I placed an order a few days after Christmas. It took about 2 weeks before my payment was even recorded, so I contacted support. No response. Then, 2 weeks later, my order hadn't shipped yet. I contacted support again, NO response. I finally received my order .. no problem with the contents... but it took over a month!

Have ordered twice from Provident . Waiting on a third order. Both were received as expected. First order took a couple extra days but not enough to complain about. Pricing seems good to me and I don't have to prepay so i give them a thumbs up.

Their catalog of gold panda coin lists 2014 coin at one price. It also shows a picture of a much older coin at a higher price. The older coin does say that it is a year of their choice. I paid for the higher price coin and received the 2014 cheaper coin instead. They claim that it is a coin of their choice and they do not have any older coin. Why would they put an ad up for a older coin at a higher price while they know that there is no other older coin available. They refused to refund the difference in price between the older and 2014 coin.

Apmex: Never any problems

JM Bullion: slow-to-nonexistent customer service unless you call to place an order-- don't select customer service option as no one picks up, and email response takes a week--but great shipping like Apmex.

Westminster: scratched product, good customer service email response time, good shipping.

PROVIDENT: slowest shipping, scratched product, poor quality control. Whoever makes the Zombucks coins sent them a batch of silver Morgue Anne rounds marked .999 fine copper, which they sent to me. Way to pay attention, Provident. They never responded to my inquiry about it until I posted a bad review, then I got a hostile-toned message from a customer service agent on VM that sounded like he'd chew me out if called back. Haven't tried Gainesville yet but why bother? I'm sticking to Apmex for selection and JMB for low cost and free shipping.

I ordered 30 days ago. Paid wire transfer immediately. They promised they would ship xmas week, then promised it would ship Jan 3. Then promised it would ship the week after. Its Jan 17th and they haven't shipped yet. 1 Month is not acceptable.

I placed two orders 5 days apart. The last order was received first and the first order received two weeks later. In defense, you will receive the order, but it may take longer than expected and promised. Their customer service will contact you in a timely manner and the shipping and product costs are very reasonable. I will order again from this company.

Fourth order that I have placed with them, and spent 10x more on this one than the first three. Product overall is quite nice, IF you manage to get it shipped! Placed the order on 12/27/13, cashier's check received and payment confirmed on 12/30/13. Thirteen days and three phone calls later, and still no product. I was promised that it would ship last week, I called again today and was promised that it will ship no later than Wednesday. The representative stated that "there was a glitch" on the website and orders are being shipped "out of order". I don't believe her. Most of the items I ordered are now showing as out of stock or stock delayed (absolutely everything I ordered was in stock when they confirmed my payment). It's becoming evident that they are trying to put me off until items are back in stock again. My patience is wearing extremely thin. Running a business in a dishonest and unethical fashion will only run the business into the ground. Either $**t or get off the pot, Provident!

I ordered and paid for a small order (less than $300) on Dec 19, 2013. I called a week later and they said they were slow because to the Christmas vacations. Last week I sent an email and was led to believe the products would be shipped by the end of the week. It Is January 13th and I have not yet received a shipment confirmation. I paid with direct deposit but if I had not I would have contacted my credit company and had canceled the charges at this point. Buyer Beware!! I was hoping to give these as gifts for Christmas. Maybe 2014.

I couldn't be happier with Provident... I have made 5 separate purchases since April 2013. All were on-line orders, paid with a cash bank wire. I got immediate e-mails back on my order & payment received, usually same day. The 3 silver buys took about 7 to 10 days to deliver at my door. Both gold buys processed in an amazing 2 days and I had both at my door on day 5 from ordering/paying! So, not sure about others having slow delivery, but all 5 of my transactions could only be rated as "OUTSTANDING"! I used to buy from The Tulving Company in Kalifornia. Ha. NEVER again! My last big gold buy was 5 weeks delayed. The never returned e-mails, and when I called kept getting told they had no idea when they'd ship. Had to have my PM IRA COO call Hannes direct and demand shipment. He shipped the next week, thank God. AVOID Tulving, that's all I can say! Stick with Provident Metals, I am. My new #1 source. Best prices, fastest shipping, most reliable I have found. Happy stacking!

I ordered near the Christmas/New Year holidays on December 23rd. Seventeen (17) days later and it still hasn't shipped! And I paid by eCheck/wire. It doesn't matter.

They had a notice that shipping was slow due to holidays, but you know what? Their web site says, "Enjoy fast, simple and secure purchases" but that's all from their point of view, not yours.

They take your money fast, simply and securely, then hold onto it a long, long time and always make excuses about how long it takes to package and ship. Then they send out the product on a snail's back.

I have to wonder if they even have the product in stock. It feels like they're buying it from someone else after my eCheck/wire is cleared quickly.

I've ordered with them several times and it's the same every time. This is a bad business sign. I strongly recommend trying someone else.

Ordered by C.C. 12/3 with a free shipping option. Had my metal in hand when i got home from work 12/16. I am thrilled with my bars, coins, and rounds. All arrived in excellent condition. It was a complicated order that was filled perfectly. I will continue to use Provident for their selection and pricing. I work to hard for my money to let it sit in the bank as numbers on paper, getting eaten by inflation. Metal seems more like real money to me- so I am going to keep buying through the bottom. Hopefully twenty years from now I will have a comfortable retirement. If not, at least when I open my safe I'll have a bunch of pretty precious metal to look at right next to the rifled steel tubes- thanks Provident. I am eagerly awaiting my next delivery. Stack-on and keep on stacking.

I've bought thousands of dollars from Apex, Gainsville, and JM Bullion. You know what they all have in common? Fast shipping.. because I paid with a credit card. Most were shipped same day if not, the next day. I ordered from PM Thursday Morning around 7AM... Which means they had all day Thursday, All day Friday to ship 2 simple products. I Paid with a credit card and was already charged. It's Monday and not being sent out yet.. Really? ... They emailed me and said it would send by the 16th... So it's going to take 1 f'ing week to ship 2 bars of Copper?......... Ridiculous.., Save your money and use APMEX, Gainsvile, or JM Bullion.

Never buying from these guys ever again.

I bought one of the Walker Zombucks coins from Provident at the Long Beach Coin show. They were set up near the entrance, and the zombucks rounds caught my eye.

The strike wasn't the greatest, but not bad by any means, and a very cool idea really.

the guy I talked too looked to be in his late 20's with blondish brown hair. Not to most interesting person, but he could have been tired from the show I guess.

I judged shipping a 3 for average, as they didn't need to ship the item.

Over all, I would have to say. "Meh" no better not worse.

I doubt you would regret buying form these guys, but they don't really get me excited either.

I placed an order from Provident Metals and after a week and a half of not receiving my order, I emailed them to check on the status of the order. I received a phone call and an email the next day notifying me that my order had been shipped and they said that since the order took longer than expected to ship, they offered free shipping on my next order of any size. That is excellent customer service!! The product was in mint shape. I am very pleased with Provident Metals.

When you buy from them you explicitly agree to terms and conditions which void their web site promise of 3-5 days delivery so there is no simple legal remedy for the numerous delivery complaints. In other words they can delay shipment as long as they want and their particular set-up just encourages it. According to the terms and conditions the customer only recourse for an endlessly delayed and not yet delivered order is to sell the order back to them. If the market is down the customer pays the difference and if the market is up the company keeps the gains (head you loose, tail the company gains). So if you intend to buy and hold for a long time, do not really care when your order arrives and have unbounded that it human nature it is quite reasonable to do business with these people, otherwise stay away.

As an extra bonus they also tried a little extortion – if I want the delivery accelerated (it was already delayed) they suggested I make an extra payment. In their words “not a big deal because it is less than what I would loose if I cancel the order”

Provident has always been my go-to dealer. I've never had any problems with them. Yes, when the price of silver goes down, the wait time for delivery is longer than normal, but that's just a sign of the market. If more people were patient, they would understand what a great company Provident is. They sent me a scratched 10 oz silver bar once, and were completely amicable and professional with allowing me to switch it out. Complainers need to calm down-all online dealers run into problems. The test is in how they handle them. I'll never order from anyone else.

I am from Canada and I paid with a bank draft so I knew it was going to take longer since I had to mail the bank draft to them. My order was for about 60 oz. of silver. I mailed the draft on June 7 and they shipped my order on June 18. Tracking number was provided. All my coins were in there and in new condition. All in all I was happy and would order from them again.

I am having a very bad experience with provident metals. Has anyone tried to take legal action on them? I am looking for advice.

I have dealt with 5 bullion dealers over the past 3 years. I have found all to be reputable. Most recently, I've dealt with Provident. I have placed 5 orders over the past 8 weeks. My last order was delivered yesterday. Typically, my orders have taken 2-3 weeks. As I've grown older, I've developed patience. I'm sure this is a very expensive business to run, with daily product order, stocking and delivery headaches. These people are honest, consistently deliver, and their prices are the best in the business. I recommend Provident highly.

This is my Third and final order from Provident. My first order took 15 days to arrive - 12 for "processing" and 3 for mail, my second took 11 days - 8 for processing and 3 for mail. This one I complained after 2 weeks and it's still processing. Reviews posted on their site do not get posted. I did receive what I ordered the first two orders but the advertised 5-7 days processing is a joke. I don't place huge orders so maybe I'm at the back of the bus but I'll find someone that appreciates my business. For the few reviews I see that doubt this I'm happy to share invoices and delivery statements. You get what you order but be prepared to wait. I travel a fair amount for business so it's impossible to buy from them as I never know exactly what 5-7 days equates to in their world. Never again.

I have tried to post twice now on this site for buyers to beware of Provident. My post does not get posted. Wonder why? I gave order number and everything. I have emailed and called many times. Provident says your order will ship tomorrow. Well tomorrow is long gone and I am still waiting 4 weeks later. Frauds. I was told items were in stock and would ship tomorrow. Don't know my next step. Contact BBB and State of Texas I guess. Do not read bogus positive reviews. They are not by real customers. I am a real customer.

I really get leary when I see all of these negative reviews. It seems that there is some type of review war going on in the industry. Anyway I have bought twice from provident and both orders were shipped promptly within 7 days and all metals were there. That's my review they have been straight up with me.

UPDATE- I ordered another order from Provident and it took nearly 3 weeks for it to come. It seems like everyone receives there orders but shipping times can be slow and that is just not acceptable. I can not imagine sending in a money order with my life savings and them taking so long to ship. If your delivery times are taking a long time then you should have that posted clearly instead of lying and saying orders ship within 3-5 business days. Provident is the cheapest around but me personally I would rather pay a few extra bucks and get my items shipped fast. My next order will be with Apmex.

While my latest two orders did take slightly longer to receive due to the increase in volume I'm sure, I still love Provident. I spent a while jumping around between a few different dealers trying to figure out which one came through most consistently and with the best prices, and Provident is the winner. While I can't speak for their customer service as I have not had to contact them yet, everything else has been great. Some of these latest reviews are amusing to me. I guess many people do not understand how crazy the industry gets when prices decrease so much. Must be noobs!

I've just received my third order from Provident, and as usual they have proven to be a great source for precious metals. Provident continually offers the best prices that I have found on the web for both private and govt mint products.

Since I pay by personal check, it takes a long time to receive orders, but all my shipments have arrived within the expected delivery times indicated on Provident's site. They sit on my checks for a long time, but the price is locked in so I don't really mind. Once shipped, delivery is fast with signature confirmation.

I've ordered a variety of govt coins as well as OPM bars and rounds, and everything has delivered exactly as described and in perfect condition.

Since my purchase in April 17, provident metals has delayed my order without consent. When asked for a full refund that I am entitled to for this lack of performance, they refused and all of a sudden could ship my order. You do not want a suspect pm dealer or any goods from them and I just wanted a full refund.

A precious metals dealer most important trait is trust in execution and timely shipping. Provident metal fails on both cases. This lack of professionalism put into doubt the products they deliver. I would independently assay anything that comes from them.

Although this is common sense, DO NOT PAY WITH CHECK as I did as there are less security measures to get your money back! I will continue to dispute and try and get my money back.

To receive an order on time when there isn't a rush isn't a big deal. To receive an order on time during a rush is an accomplishment.

I placed my order on line and mailed in a paper check. Allowing for normal mailing time, the check was received. The day after the check cleared my account, I received an e-mail advising me of the 6 day hold (per policy). It took almost exactly the specified amount of time from the cleared check to my receipt of the order. The only LITTLE glitch was the website showing the order in process for shipping when it was, in fact, sitting on my desk.

Fool me once shame on you.....

Now is the second time.

The first time they didnt ship to me I believed the storyline they gave me.

The second storyline goes on and on. A month now has passed and the bar i ordered has even relisted as "in stock" and they haven't shipped my order. I have filed a complaint with the Texas Attorney General.

I've ordered from Provident twice. It was nearly a month before the first order, which was for products advertised as being in stock, was shipped. They received my payment for the second order on April 1st, and as of today, 3 1/2 weeks later, the order still has not been shipped. Like the first order, the second is for products advertised as being in stock, yet the excuse I get when I call to ask about the delay is that they're waiting for delivery from their suppliers. Customer service tells me that "in stock" is the same as "expecting delivery from suppliers".
I will not be doing any more business with this company.

I bought twice from this company and both orders took more than a month to arrive. Both times I was told that the delay was because they were waiting for delivery from their suppliers, yet the products were advertised as being in stock when I ordered them.

Ordered some silver Maple Leafs and gold coins from Provident. They arrive in perfect condition and none of the Maple Leafs have milk spots. Very impressed and will buy again.

Very slow shipping. They did not ship even after 6 business days once the payment cleared. The items are in stock.

I really like the selection of silver rounds I can buy for less than a dollar over spot at Provident. A couple weeks ago they were doing a special for $.69 for OPM silver rounds, even if I only bought 1. Usually I have to buy at least a roll to get a couple cents off with other dealers. My stack is steadily growing... Keep on stacking.

I love Provident Metals! They have great customer service, and they always exceed my expectations. They have the selection of Crapmex with a G-ville price. Im a lifer!

I put in a big order for 7 different types of rounds. All that said in stock but clearly were not. One was the bull/bear silver round, In stock but if you read down a little bit it says may take up to 15 days to ship. Other sites do this all the time when they play the spread on spot price. provident does the same they do not hold some round and then also say they are in stock. Anyone that does this is only gambling with your money. If you can't get your gold or silver in 14 days people are just feeding of your money. I'll be lucky if I see my silver in 1 and 1/2 months, and if they lose at playing the spread maybe after two I might see a refund there is no down side for them. you just can't cancel no matter what is the time frame

I've purchased gold and silver from several different dealers in the past. I especially like Provident's policy of accepting personal checks (convenient and economical for the buyer) and I can honestly say they have excellent customer service. If they make a mistake with your order (as they did once with mine) they look into it and make it right. (In my sad experience with another well-known gold/silver dealer, that is not always the case, although it should be.) In addition, Provident has low prices. All in all, I've been very pleased so far, and the bullion they send, if advertised as "brilliant uncirculated", actually looks that way. (Unlike my recent order from another well-known dealer.) I'll be ordering from Provident in the future.

I dont usually do this with companies but it seems its Provident Metals lucky day! I used to by from these guys all the time, not huge orders by any means but consistent since around the middle of last year. As the holidays approached there shipping times started to degrade quite a bit but it was the holidays so I understood. Well there ship times have continued to get worse to a point that its been 3 weeks now and have 2 outstanding orders that have not shipped. These are small orders ( 1/10 Gold Eagle, some fractional silver bullion, etc.) and since I am impatient, I only order stuff that says "In Stock". Well there new policy is this, let me explain to you.

The reason they told me my orders have not shipped is because of the 1/10 Ounce Incuse Indian Silver Rounds that I ordered and they pointed out this disclaimer:

"Due to high demand, some orders containing these rounds may experience a delay of up to 15 business days from the time payment is confirmed."

Well that is all fine and dandy but why do they put in green " In Stock " on there site? So even though they say in stock, its really not and that is a very big no-no in my eyes when it comes to this sort of merchandise. Sounds a little fishy to me because now they have added a disclaimer on these things that allows them to keep your money and give you nothing in return for 3 weeks or so.

If it in stock, offer it for sale and ship.

If its not in stock, clearly state this on your site.

Everything went perfectly from the wire transfer to the delivery.

I have been buying silver and copper from Provident for almost 2 years. I have never once run into any problems, have ALWAYS received 5 star treatment. Why would you shop anywhere else? 5 Stars all around!

Compare their prices and fees to the others on here. Competitive prices, cheapest and fastest shipping I've had from any of the others I've tried. Do your homework. Don't get robbed in fees, shipping and premiums....that's YOUR MONEY.
