Sprott Money

I purchased what was described on the website as a new 2021 Maple Leaf 1 oz .9999 gold coin. The website depicts the coin as flawless and worthy of display. However, the coin arrived in a plastic bag, deep scratch along the left side of the obverse side, unpolished, and without an assay. It sad that I cannot upload a photo of this coin...a picture is worth a 1000 words. Of all the gold and silver coins in my collection, the new 2021 Maple Leaf is in the worst condition and definitely not showroom worthy...displaying this coin is an embarrassment to Canada. Gold coins I've purchased from USA and Australia are highly polished, in a protective clear coin holder, with an assay, and arrive with a display case. That is just the opposite of what Sprott Money will provide. I'm not from Canada but I clearly see there is no national pride displayed in these coins. I am so skeptical that is not an authentic gold coin that I called two companies to have the coin tested for purity. Once the lockdown is over, I will have it tested. After sending photos of the coin to Sprott Money to resolve the issue I just received silence. For spending $2345 CAD on what is consider coin art, Sprott Money has very disappointing care and quality control.

Given the COVID context, the mailing was excellent via FedEx. The navigation on the site is good and everything is clear. Nevertheless, payment by bank transfer with Desjardins is impossible, hence the 4*. However, I quickly received a call from customer service to suggest an alternative. So, excellent customer service. Donc, excellent service à la clientèle. BRAVO!!

I was going to wait on this review until shipment arrived, but I am confident it will arrive today and so going ahead now. There has already been a post-review of this order and so I will not elaborate further on all the details, except to mention a couple of possible easy wins for you that may make future ordering a little nicer. 1. For me personally, I was not so keen on the FI choices. I think you had PC Financial, but I wasn't sure if this would take me to Simplii Financial. It could be confusing for some and may just be a matter of updating this logo. I have TD bank too, but know what you may be dealing with there to kick these guys into shape. So no worries on that one. 2. The link on the shipment tracking, took me to an internal page that just showed the shipper and tracking # again. Of course I was able to copy and paste this # into FedEx tracking, but it would nice if this link took me directly to this FedEx page with the results already presented. I have been in corporate long enough to know that a good company is not one that never has problems, but rather has good procedures and follow up when problems arise. On that note, I give you full marks. As of this writing the FedEx tracking is showing my delivery as Pending with an expected delivery of Yesterday. I figure the guy went off the road (of course hope not) and that my package will arrive today. Their automated response systems for the most up to date information is like a Merry-go-Round of frustration. I understand though that this is beyond your immediate control right now. I can lean on them if need be, but hopefully not. Up to you if you want to give them a gentle nudge. Overall I am pleased and delighted I found you folks. I am on the weekly wrap-up all the time and learning tons. I have been very Impressed with your company. I hope everyone is well and stays well. Sorry if we got of to a rocky start. The new computer system was giving your sales person issues. He was accommodating so the wait for "things to work" was ok. I was passed on to Danielle in operations to get the FED X labels and costing finalized. She did a great job. The turn around time for my shipment to to be received, cleared and money wired to my account was fast and accurate. My complaint over the 8 years of buying and selling with Sprott Money has always been the lack of staff to handle me calling in. It is always a message left and hours latter a return call. I have always felt that you are understaffed. Your confirmations are generic and it seems to me that sometimes your people are confused whether they are shipping, buying or adding to the vault. It is the way that you are trying to have a one form does all. It looks cheap which is not a good look for people handling my money. Good thing Sprott has an excellent name in the market.
