Dealers who ship late may be insolvent

All I can say is this. If a dealer is using my money to float 2-3 weeks on very common bullion coins then he risks getting caught when the metal price fluxuates the wrong direction for him. The only way a dealer can stay solvent is to buy immediately when they sell and have sufficient goods on hand before his new order arrives. This take BIG BIG BUCKS (and BIG you know what) in inventory and proper modern systems... not a back of the envelope dealer operation with person A referring you to person B who refers you to person A again and then just says take our work for it.

If you read that delivery times are getting progressively longer and longer for customers who purchase common bullion, that may mean the dealer is losing more and more and needing your float to appear solvent.

For me from now on, they need to ship in 3-4 days. Any longer other than the two weeks before xmas tells me to run fast and hold on to my wallet.

Debt is the evil that brings some of us to buy these coins. Dealers Debt (they have my money but wait 3 weeks to ship) is just as bad.

I am not a bank giving free loans.

tulving gold

I will say this after reading some of these reports I was very leary of ordering from this company, but because of the lower prices I took a chance on this company, Mr. Tulving seems to be a very busy man when talking to him on the phone ,I can understand this as I was in business myself for many years before retiring, I think people may be mislead a bit by his overnight shipping ,he does not say that he's so busy that it may take a week or two before he can ship the items that you order just that he will shipped it next day air, which to me is a little misleading ,and people can become worried about their order because of sending a company $30,000.00 or more and then not getting thier order the next day as implied , he should ease peoples mind a little bit and put on his site that it may take up to two weeks before we can ship ,but you will be notified by email when shipped and we will ship next day air.I place my order on 6/20/2012 ,the same day I was emailed a invoice stating my purchase had been paid for by wire tranfer nothing about shipping, on 6/26/12 I contacted the company talked to a young man that was polite and courtious ask him about my order ,he said of course they were running behind due to a large amount of orders and that it may be next week before they could process my order , I wasn't upset but having never done business with this company was a little concerned ,within a couple hours after talking to him I was emailed a tracking # and recieved my order the very next day at 9:30 am . So I think the company is ok to do business with just understaffed ,but that's how he keeps the cost down , but he should state to potientual customers that it may take a couple of weeks before shipment. I might add the 20 maple leafs I recieved were absolutely beautiful!

After reading all the scary reviews, after I had placed my order, I became very worried. Needless to say, everything was just perfect. Placed my order on Friday afternoon.. got the tracking number a few hours later.. on Monday I got my stuff. Dale took care of me and I had no problems whatsoever. Although, due to the recent reviews, I probably won't reorder until their reviews improve. I don't understand all the negative reviews. Everything seemed normal to me.

Used to be a long time Tulving customer, but not anymore.

If you want to wait 3 weeks for your order and call Karen several times asking for status updates, feel free to order from Tulving. If you want your order immediately, order from a large dealer such as APMEX. In the past, I have places several orders with Tulving and never had any issues. On my last order, I waited three weeks and it was impossible to get a solid answer out of Karen on the status. Also, the order wasn't even shipped from Tulving's address in California. My coins were drop shipped from CNT out of Massachusetts. I used to be a long time customer of Tulving, but now I'm taking my business elsewhere.

No word on shipment after two weeks!!!

I ordered gold over two weeks ago. Payment by bank wire, confirmed the next day. Since then, I have not received the shipment and Karen (their customer "service" person) keeps telling me "they are running behind" but no word on when it will be shipped. Nice and polite to talk to, but no commitment or even an estimate on when they will ship. I am unable to sleep at night worrying about what kind of scam I may be a victim of.

I have bought from other dealers before, but first time from Tulving. This is the worst experience I have had with any dealer. I am crossing my fingers hoping I don't have to take legal action to get my money back.

They are lying to their customers! Be very careful!!!

I ordered my silver from Tulving himself on May 16th. On May 30th at 3:34 a.m. I called and Spoke to Hannes again, who told me that he has no idea of what is wrong with my order and call Karen as She make all decisions about shipping product and sending checks. I called Karen and she told me that they needed 2 weeks more time to get my shipment to me!

After the 2 weeks I called again and was told it was to be shipped that day and I would receive a tracking number by email. I did not receive it! On Tuesday the 5th of June at 8:51 a.m. I called again & was told it did not go out and would the next day. Karen promised me it was going out that day and I would receive my delivery tracking number later that day. I did not receive the tracking number again! I called on the 6th of May at 8:34 a.m. and was told I did not get it because it did not go out but would go out that day!

It still has not arrived and when called today the 7th of June I was told by Karen that the computer would not allow her to send me the tracking number emails (seems like a lie to me!) and that there were 4 of them and she was too busy to give them to me over the phone and to call tomorrow if I do not receive the silver again.

It really sucks to have given them the payment up front and this is the best that they can do is to tell me that they have no control of my not getting the product.

I am writing this to warn potential customers about this poor service. Buy at your own risk!!

Like Gold Bug I have ordered both gold and silver from Tulving for the past seven years many times. Always received an invoice and tracking number the same day. I ordered gold from him last Friday morning and got an email with the invoice number after I sent the wire. By Monday I still had no tracking number....so I emailed Hannes at the email address on his website asking for a tracking number. Got a curt reply--"I do not handle, call Karen at..." I have talked to Hannes in the past when ordering (thank goodness he has some curteous employees now who answer the phone) and from those conversations I know the man has no social skills to speak of. Didn't matter to me, however, as I always got the goods pronto. I did call and talk to Karen who told me it was way too early to expect a tracking number as they don't have the merchandise in their actual possession for insurance reasons. I did not receive a tracking number by email today (Tuesday) either. After reading other posters comments, I am getting extremely worried about this. If I don't have a tracking number by late tomorrow afternoon I am going to call and request a refund. Regardless of how this turns out, I think I will not be ordering anything from them again.

Tulving is good until they are not.

I have used Tulving many times and have done literally hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of business with them without ever having an issue. I recommended them to everyone. Now out of the blue I have a problem. I wired them the money for two boxes of Canadian Wildlife Series Maples. They say everything they post on their website is "in stock" but they have had my wire for over three weeks and no word on delivery. I was told last week by Karen that Mr Tulving promised that they would ship this week and "Mr Tulving always keeps his word" well no Silver yet and its Tuesday. If I don't get it in the next two days then it will officially be a month since they received my money. They are very rude when you call and just ask about when they think it will be. There are plenty of other places to by bullion just as cheap. Nothing special about Tulving. They use to have the best buy sell spreads but now they don't even have that. I won't be using them again. There are plenty of other dealers that will treat you right.

The two faces of Tulving

Beware these guys. The prices are the lowest but whatever they promise on the website or even on the phone is bound to change. I've always gotten my stuff but sometimes not when promised. This last order was a trade of my gold for their silver. I was told everything was in stock and would ship within five days of receipt of my gold. My gold made it to them in a day and a week later I called to see where the silver was, then they tell me policy was to ship out two to three weeks after payment received. That pisses me off. The worst though was the initial conversation with the owner where he contradicted himself multiple times during the conversation and was somewhat rude as I asked questions.I mentioned that his employee had told me one thing and he started shouting at me about hearsay, etc. I found myself thinking he suffered from borderline personality disorder and that I was actually having a conversation with someone that wasn't coherent. Thats a bit frightening when you have sent that person $30k of you gold. If someone beat their price I would never use them again

Previously excellent, now becoming questionable

A couple of years ago, I went through a spree of a dozen transactions with Tulving, buying and selling. All went extremely smoothly, nearly always completed within 3 days including shipping time!

Recently, however, I made two purchases that kept me awake at night. One transaction took 10 calendar days from payment to shipping. The next transaction took 15 days from payment to receipt of a tracking number. In both instances, after payment, I inquired about an expected shipping time and was promised nothing. In both instances, I was told that they were "running behind" and that my shipment "may go out this week" but could not be assured.

On the bright side, Tulving seems to have hired some assistants who are courteous on the phone! Too bad - I would have preferred the old Tulving from two years ago who was rude but shipped on time.

I have bought once and sold once to this company and both times it went SUPER smooth. They are the ONLY (unless you want to lose your butt to spreads) company to go to when trading larger quantities precious metals.

Tulving Silver Purchase

On March 20th 2012 I wired funds as required for first time purchases with Tulving. On the 6th bussiness day (Tulving does not count Friday) following my bank wire I called and spoke with Karen who told me my silver should ship the next week. The following week I called agian and Karen told me my order would not ship that week but maybe the next week. She explained it takes time to process orders and they were behind. The next week I called and Karen told me It would ship the following Monday. Monday came and went and still no shipping notice. Today...3 weeks after wire (12 Tulving days) I recieved my order. Good thing I was there to recieve it as I had no notice it was coming. An hour after delivery I recieved email confirmation email from Tulving. I got a good price on my Silver and there were no hidden fees, however following my payment I found myself in a compromised position with no options but to wait and hope Tulving delivered.

I had a bad experience with the Tulving Company. Mr. Tulving refused to pay me tens of thousands of dollars he owed me. I don't think I'd have gotten my money back if I hadn't been very persistent. It took too much of my time and more than ten phone calls to resolve. I withstood impressive insults and profanity from Hannes Tulving, Jr., and from an employee named 'Dale'.

How did it happen? I found language pertaining to their sales policies on their website that I felt was misleading. It contradicted the policies as explained to me by one of their representatives. I have purchased gold from Tulving company for many years. Without doubt, they are the most professional, most service oriented and best gold dealer in the US. You do have to meet their minimums, but the quality of their products and their service is outstanding!!!

I ordered from Tulving over the weekend after S&P had announced the downgrade in the dollar. Wired the money on Monday around noon; received an e-mail within 2 hours saying they had received payment; received an email on Wednesday saying the order had shipped with tracking number; and had my order in hand on Thursday. I don't know how it gets much better than that. I usually order from Gainesville because Tulving's minimums are higher than my normal order, but when I am going to buy enough to meet his minimums I will do business with him again. I am also quite satisfied with Gainesville although they are a little more expensive.

This is my absolutely preferred dealer for bigger quantities (with Gainesville Coins my favorite for smaller ones).

For this latest order, I placed the order within hours of the S&P downgrading the US's rating down from AAA on August 5th, 2011.

As usual, they answered the phone promptly, I knew what I wanted from the site, and the order was completed within 45sec.

Best price and $31.95 over spot cannot be beat for gold Kangaroos.

Wired the money Monday morning and by 2pm I had a confirmation the money was received and the order would be shipped.

By 5pm (Eastern)- still Monday, I had the shipping notification with the tracking number and the package was already in the UPS system for delivery the next day.

On every previous order I had the same experience, but this one was special because of the crazy events of the weekend.On this weekend when many dealers (APMEX, etc) simply shut their sites and did not take orders in order to sell for higher prices Monday, these guys are absolutely remarkable.

Everyone I have recommended them so far have only had good things to say (except about the bright ugly yellow website, but to me that actually is part of their charm by now).

I have been buying gold and silver in various quantities from Tulving for 4 years now and have been very satisfied. I have called them at all hours to place orders, no other billion company is open 24/7 that I am aware of. I appreciate the no-nonesense process, no sales pitch, they just take your order and give you the total, period. I have always received an email confirmation as well as an email when the items shipped. The best part is their no BS pricing, they have their markup online and that is all inclusive, unlike many other companies. As far as shipping is concerned, I have received all orders within one week. Gold ships more quickly then silver.

I read through some of the other reviews here and several negative ones are obvious shills. In particular, Rich & Tracy, William McPherson, and Greg Monroe are posting total BS. Monroe is referencing a lame FTC charge from 2 decades ago (I looked into it before dealing with Tulving) that was handled.

If there is one negative about Tulving it is their customer service is blunt and no-nonsense. I appreciate this but others might prefer the happy sales pitch of other companies.

Anyway, that is my opinion after placing 10-12 orders over the last few years. I can not comment of selling bullion to them as I have only purchased.

I traded Tulving some gold coins for silver eagles. There was no e-mail or any conformation that they recieved the gold coins. When I called to inquire about shipping the lady in charge of shipping said, I'm busy you will have to wait and hung up. Over the next few weeks I made a couple more calls inquiring when the eagles would be shipped, She did acknowledge recieving the gold coins and verified the quanity of eagles they owed me, but made flimsy excuses as to why they would not ship the eagles.
There was never an apology or 'sorry for the delay' just you will have to wait. I spent many sleepless nights, worrying about how this was going to turn out, but felt a little better when they verified our deal by voice. I never recieved an e-mail or written confirmation until I finally recieved the eagles exactly SIX WEEKS TO THE DAY after sending them the gold coins

Would I do business with Tulving again?
They have the best buy sell spread I've found, but I do not want to go through the gut wrenching experience Iv'e just had. I would have to get a firm commitment from Mr. Tulving about the shipping date.

I have purchased several orders for various gold coins from Tulving, all with satisfying results and if only for that I would give the company a high rating.

However reticently I have had two orders for silver (one completed and one in progress). The first order was delayed in shipping and only after several calls and various excuses did it ship.

The second order is several weeks late. After many calls I have been given various excuses such as it 'is a large order', 'it can't ship cross country on Thursday', 'there insurance only allows so many orders to be processed per day', 'there are many orders ahead of me' etc. There phone rep who is only available a few hours per day refuses to give any specific information such as how many orders are ahead of me or how many days they are behind on their shipping. I don't think their is fraud there because of my previous good luck with the gold orders, but I am getting very nervous from the stalling and lack of any concrete status.

I would recommend that prospective buyers stay away from Tulving, especially for silver orders. I am not planning to give them any more business.

Placed an order with them, never got it, had to argue it thru our bank & CC company. They refunded the funds, but took almost 3 months from when it was ordered. Beware, Please research before converting your hard earned Federal Reserve Fiat Notes... to something alot better...

I called to invest a small sum of $5000, not only did the owner quote me an incorrect price, but I asked him to recheck his figures, he flew off the handle and said he didn't need or want by business. Disrespectful old man. Called later to see if they had kept the order I placed, I was informed that it was cancelled - contrary to their stated webpage. Do not trust this company - many bad reviews and a condescending owner make this off limits to me...

I made my first purchase back in May 2010, 4 tubes (20 coins each) of new 1oz American Eagles. Wired the money and they arrived 3 days later.
Since that first 'test' purchase worked out, have since ordered over 25 RCM Kilo bars in various batches and each and every time they arrived on time. Very happy with Hannes and his kids (staff). They do exactly as promised. I like dealing with a group that answers the phone...no automated 'BS'...a real person always answers. Class act in my opinion.

Hannes Tulving is a class act. I have dealt with him since 1999, long before he had any minimums. He always delivers, and quickly, I might add. I have comfortably referred him business, tmost recently just last week.

Purchased on Monday also sent wire got an email 2 hours after I left the bank, promised 5 to 7 day overnight delivery received it 3 day later on Thursday same week, if the service was any better that that I don't know where you would find it.

I have done business wih Haines Tulving for the past three years and I have nothing but praise for his company. In each and every case my orders were handled professionally and shipped promptly overnight with absolutely no problems at all.
Yes, I did my research before chosing a dealer from whom to buy gold from and was fully aware of Haines' issues that occured nearly 20 years ago. His issues at that time have certainly no bearing on my doing business with him today.
The Tulving Company offers the best buy/sell spread in the US and delivers what they promise. They are a bullion dealer not a numimatic dealer and have virtually little if any real overhead other than the tens of millions of bullion they carry in stock.
Take a tour of their website. No, it's not as fancy as APMEX or Gainseville or Blanchard's web sites but it tells you who they are and what they sell.

Was hoping to place a large order with Tulving however after doing some research, it seems this company does not have a good reputation.

Tulving has filed bankruptcy 3 times including screwing customers out of delivery. Please just google TULVING BANKRUPTCY and do some research. Even the FTC charged them with Fraud.
